How to build a plate quench vise ( CHEAP)

well I finally have a heat treat oven headed my way and decided it’s time to put together a plate quench vise!
vise similar to what I used......amzn.to/3arrysm
I bought the aluminum plates from eBay

I made the exact same plate quench assembly, ended up accidentally stripping the threads out of the plate so I drilled all the way through the block and countersunk the holes so the screw heads were flush with the plate faces.

Now part of me wants to see what a "lever over" one would look like. I'm thinking of a panini press kind of build. Depending on the arms and such, might be able to fit some super size blades in there. Regardless, thanks for the solid content.

weld a nut on it so you can use a impact to close it faster matt im in process of making 1 just ordered my plates this morning 👍👍

What's the minimum thickness of the plate? At my place it's hard to find 1" thick plate
