How to make a wire and tin foil armature for your polymer clay characters! This is a good method as it provides internal structure and also allows you to conserve clay (which can be expensive!) Music is not my own.

Would be good to specify what gauge the wire is rather than just using descriptors medium and thin. Very helpful to see your method. Thank you.

Dik de Bruijn thanks for your feedback, you’re totally right! I used what I had laying around my house at the time so I’m not certain it had the gauge written on it but I would assume maybe a 16-18g wire for the medium and I used a very thin jewelry wire (the gold one)

Why do you use foil on the skeleton before adding the clay?
@dikdebruijn51015 жыл бұрын
Foil is used to "bulk out" the armature. This serves 2 purposes. First, you use less clay, which is more expensive than the foil. Second, as you are adding just a thin layer of clay over the foil, you do not need to bake as long to get a good cure.
