Thanks so much for the tutorial, it was so helpful 😊. I noticed on the foam mat there was some colour left over from the petals, I was wondering how you clean that off so the colour doesn’t contaminate? I have just done some little red balls on my foam and now there is a slight red residue and I don't want that to contaminate lighter colours.

Needing advice here, I found 2 sets of polyclay (Sculpey lll) l had forgotten l had. Knowing it’s reputation for being extremely soft/oily, Can l do anything to make this clay less soft, and more useful for earrings or other pieces? Can Sculpey lll be mixed with regular Sculpey? Alternatively, what are the best things to make with Sculpey lll? Thank you for all you do and all you teach us. I so enjoy watching every beautiful creation that you guys make. Thank you in advance!

Thank you! 🥰 We haven’t had much experience with trying to use up Sculpey III but have definitely heard of others mixing it into premo or soufflé. I’m not sure of what ratios would work, but perhaps you could start with 1/4 III, 3/4 premo/soufflé and do a test? Hopefully you can find a ratio that works so you can use it up! 😊

Lovely tutorial. TY. How do you bake the blue flowers? Do you use something to hold them up?
@myclayco5 ай бұрын
Thank you 😊 You can place your standalone pieces in a small bowl of uncooked rice. It will not mess up your shape and you can keep it to reuse next time you need it 😊 I have also used silicone molds (ensure they are oven safe silicone first) to help prop up my pieces. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for making this video!! Newbie here 😊 May I ask ~ what is your favorite clay to use?
@myclayco6 ай бұрын
Our pleasure 😊 It depends on what I’m making. I mainly use sculpey Premo and sculpey Souffle, but also love the colour range and types of clay cernit has. For florals, sculpey Premo and cernit number one are great all rounders but my current favourite is cernit opaline for its ceramic like finish! Hope that helps 😊

Hello and thanks so much for the tutorials! Quick question: At 14:55, how do you stand these up in the oven so that the petals don’t get crushed during baking??
@myclayco4 ай бұрын
Our pleasure! It depends on the flower shape but if you’re worrying about squishing petals you can bake them in uncooked rice, or if they’re studs you can stab the post into an old oven-safe silicone mould 😊

You're a great presenter and Teacher!!!! ❤ 👍 Thanks! Some questions: Where do I learn how to roll out clay for flowers and bake the clay? Thanks
@myclayco5 ай бұрын
That’s so lovely of you to say 🥰 thank you! Rolling out clay for flowers is the same process you would use for earrings - you can roll out flat with a rolling pin on a tiled surface or you can use a pasta machine. We cover this in our tutorial ‘stop polymer clay sticking in your cutters’. I generally roll out thinner though for flowers to about 1.5mm before cutting out my petal shapes. Baking instructions are on the clay packet in terms of temperature and timing. If you have a flower that is not able to be flat baked, you can sit it up in a small bowl of uncooked rice. I hope that helps 😊

Ugh I saw this video a few days ago & I FINALLY got all the right tools for it today & I've been at it for hours now & can't seem to get the ball tool to glide smoothly around the clay like yours does. My clay keeps sticking to the tool & just dragging. So I used a bit of cornstarch on the ball which worked PERFECTLY, but then the clay was too dried out to stick inside each petal & when I used the dotting tool, it won't let go of the petal🤦🏻♀️
@myclayco4 ай бұрын
Hmmm I’m wondering if your clay is too warm or soft. What brand is the clay? Do you live/work in a hot or humid place?
@mackenziegeyer24674 ай бұрын

@@mackenziegeyer2467 Ahhh the clay is probably why then. Some polymer clays are better for certain applications than others. If you are able too, I highly recommend getting your hands on some Sculpey Premo or Sculpey Souffle, or Cernit clay. I have heard the Amazon ones are quite soft and sometimes sticky. There is also a chance that it will be brittle once baked. Have you had a chance to test if it cures ok?

What can I do to get rid of unwanted texture on the backside of my petals? Get a smoother foam? I just tried with some leftover flooring insulation foam sheets here but nope. Not working. Too much texture on the outside, need to think of something else.
@myclayco6 ай бұрын
If you’re after a smooth petal, you’ll definitely need your foam mat to be smooth too. You’ve stumbled upon the trick to get texture on to petals (rolling or pressing on textured surfaces) but if that’s not desired, flat is best 😊

@myclayco6 ай бұрын
I rolled them to about 1.5mm. They don’t need to be too thin to start with because you’ll thin them out while using the ball tools 😊
