I have been messing around making some test pipes, and I was wondering how you determined to use 40mm of wind. From testing with my accordion it seems that I can make about 20mm with the bellows for normal playing. Isn't 40mm a lot?

Hi Casey, Thanks for the question. I choose this pressure through empirical tests. The bellows system in an organ is very different, in fact a wedge shaped bellows is a second order lever, which, at least, doubles the pressure for the same force exerted by moving half of the air. The bellows I will build will have a factor of 2.6, so for 10kg of force it will exert 26kg. but in any case by intervening on the foot aperture and the windway of the pipes, it is possible to voice the pipes even for lower pressures. I hope everything goes well :)

Hi Gianmaria, could I ask why set the pressure at 40mm? and what is the pressure for your continuo organ? Second, when testing the pipes, why higher notes are shifted to the holes in the middle? Is the diameter of the foot hole gets smaller for higher notes? The Screw at the foot controls the wind and thus to control the percussion? why need to control the percussion? And finally, what is paint used as the filler? Thanks in advance for your patience 😅

😅some questions here... The pressure is 40mm in water column because medieval portative organs, and hand pumped in general, worked at very low pressures. in a previous video I said that my pipe organ worked at 55mm water column, but I was wrong, it works at 65mm of water column. Yes the diameter of the foot is smaller for the higher pipes. because too much air at the foot is unpleasant, however within certain limits it is also a matter of taste. it is a normal water based trasparent filler, in Italian we said "turapori"I don't know if there is a better word to describe it in english.

@@dlwangxiaohu Hi Xiaohu, thanks for your questions. The ideal height of the mouth is related to frequency and diameter. out of this ideal measure it produces more or less harmonics, therefore a higher mouth has a sound with fewer harmonics, more sweet, while a lower mouth produces a sound with more harmonics. But it's not that simple, it's very rough as an explanation, the mouth it's just one of the factors that affect the sound.

Mi chiedevo se non è rischioso fare i fori alla copertina, prima di averne stabilita l'esatta posizione con questo processo. 🤔 So che alcuni infatti ricorrono all'incollaggio di questa, anche se personalmente non la gradisco, anche esteticamente.

Ciao Marco. In effetti tanti organari aspettano a fare i fori sulla copertina proprio per questo motivo. In realtà i fori che ho fatto sulla copertina mi permettono un certo margine per spostare la copertina di quel millimetro avanti indietro che è più che sufficiente. Nel video la sposto in modo esagerato 😄 ma solo per far sentire la differenza. Grazie!

salve, vorrei sapere, ho notato che il cacolo della pressione viene fatto regolando il livello piu basso con quello piu alto, e la differenza determina quindi la pressione dello strumento. quindi se realizzo uno strumento simile, posso controllare la pressione del mio organo, e' corretto? grazie. puo scrivermi a [e-mail] (le mie canne lavorano a basse pressioni e a volte mi sembra di sentire piu l'armonico che il fondamentale). saluti. interessanti i suoi video

Salve Davide, Si esatto. La pressione si misura dal punto più basso a quello più alto. Spesso si sbaglia misurando solo quanto sale il livello di destra e ci si trova con pressioni doppie!

@@nippocast grazie, ho calcolato bene e quindi il mio organo lavora a 50mm, dovro controllare la regolazione al piede del bordone perche come le dicevo percepisco piu l'armonico. tutte le mie canne hanno la vite di regolazione o la valvolina girevole all'interno, forse si e' spostata. grazie della disponibilita'. saluti

@@nippocast mi son dimenticato di dirle, che ho seguito passo passo la sua costruzione per un mantice di compensazione, ho risolto in parte ma migliorato moltissimo i tempi di risposta del mio organo. forse avrei dovuto metterlo dalla parte degli acuti, dove si nota di piu' la vibrazione se al basso ho accordi che quindi danno molte scosse al canale del vento. grazie ancora, i suoi video sono molto completi. saluti
