Assuming Energy = Mass x Velocity: Did you calculate the Hammer Velocity in a 'free drop' compared to the velocity in the 'controlled down motion'? Of course RPM and belt-tension is going to play a major role in the outcome. In other words, is the hammer velocity =/> than it would with be with the DaVinci Cam hammer?
@RustyGlovebox8 ай бұрын
I saw no need. A 16 lbs hammer equals a lot of force. ...lol
@Ekanselter8 ай бұрын
@@RustyGlovebox For sure! Just curious which design drops the hammer faster. To know for sure would require a tach on the rotating disk. Regardless you have a very nice design.

Have you tested to see what pound force it hits with? More than manually swinging a hammer? Less? Easier of course but I was curious as to the poundage.
@RustyGlovebox7 жыл бұрын
It is a 16 lbs hammer head, the leaf spring adds a little extra down force too at the bottom of the stroke. The beam is 3 foot . I bet there is a formula out there that could answer that . Thanks

Rusty, I'm considering taking a stab at building something similar to your hammer. Just concerned, because I haven't seen a video yet showing actual use of the hammer. If it wasn't successful for you, I didn't want to waste my time and effort in making one. Thanks!

Finished my version of your power hammer. Turned out pretty good! It probably ran me around $500 in materials to build it. Just retired and had a great time making it. Already used it once on a project and it worked pretty good! Beats the hammer and anvil. I posted a short video on KZbin at kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4banpmkZtSZo6c. If you get a chance, take a look at it. Many thanks for your instructional videos!

Rusty Glovebox looks effective, I wonder if it would work better if you filled the front post with some weight. might keep it from hopping so much and make each strike more effective.. nice job
