Nice kit. I would add a tourniquet and burn cream. I did see improvised tourniquet material but nothing beats the real thing. The best kit though is the one you carry. 👍

You're right, there is improvised tourniquet material in this kit! The nice thing about this system is that you can include anything you prefer. Thanks for watching!

Nice video. I'd add tweezers and alcohol pads for tick removal. I think most ultralight backpackers are negligent by not carrying more than a few bandages and Ibuprofen. This kit could serve 2 to 3 people on the same trip so it is not at all overkill.

This is great information, and the way you presented it was easy to understand. Lower the volume on the music though. It's a little distracting.

Generally good video and important message. Andrew Skurka has a couple of very well thought through posts on his website regarding first aid kits which I recommend everyone to also read. Some of the items in this kit seem to be overkill. If you never used the item, consider leaving it. Guiding or very remote and long expeditions are a different beast all together.

Nice video. Do those supplies last indefinitely, or should I replace them regularly?
@WeAre1Legion Жыл бұрын
i know im late but stuff like pills and meds will expire, they can still be used of course, but their effectiveness dwindles. alcohol wipes and other things that are in the little single use pouches usually won't but id give them 5 years then change em out just in case. things like bandages wont so long as you treat them well and dont let them get wet or exposed to any icky things until you actually need them to stop blood from coming out and bacteria and other nasties from getting in. meds id say change out about every year or 2
@SouthernRebels944 ай бұрын
The supplies will have a expiration date on them so one should always check the date on them every so often and before each use on the safe side because if the date expires it can cause more problems then it should.

Where can I buy all those supplies in sachets if I want to make a kit for my car?

if you live in texas i suggest anti-snake Venom or rattlesnake anti-venom because that will become really handy if you live like out in the desert area of Texas or in New Mexico even so yeah just a little tip from a Texan👍😁

?? I've never heard of such a thing that one can buy to keep in a first aid kit. We do live in Texas and this is one reason we make sure before every group event to discover where the closest hospital is.

Where did you get the clotting stuff and eye wash?
@WeAre1Legion Жыл бұрын
eye wash and clotting materials can probably be gotten off amazon or from a local pharmacy, especially if that pharma is in a city or a largely dense area, local towns might just carry more common items

I would add a tourniquet and burn cream and hydrocortisone cream, more than one pair of gloves , super glue and black pepper, eye pads and tweezers.

@kindritaceveswexler7085 Жыл бұрын
There are many alternatives. I recommend going to your local pharmacy and asking about alternative NSAIDS to replace ibuprofen in your kit

Black pepper is used to stop bleeding it has no side effects, it can be washed away. Super glue is used as a skin closure, it will de solve away in time allowing the cut to heal.

Why a syringe?
@keisha7175 жыл бұрын
To irrigate an open wound of dirt and debris before bandaging.
@Scorpionwitch4 жыл бұрын
@@keisha717 You can use one of your eyewash bottles for that.
@joestevenson55683 жыл бұрын
@@keisha717 Unless you fancy carrying 1-2 litres of sterile water, a full suturing kit, a course of antibiotics and a medical license you might as well irrigate with your hydration pack or water bottle. The wound is already thoroughly contaminated, you're just removing physical debris.
@keisha7173 жыл бұрын
@@joestevenson5568 I was just answering somebody's question about why a syringe. My recommendation is to carry a small 1 oz. bottle of Betadine to clean open wounds, along with an Israeli bandage. No reason to carry a liter of sterile water when you can carry 1 oz. of Betadine. It's what every hospital emergency room in the country uses.
@WeAre1Legion Жыл бұрын
depends on what the type of syringe needle is, if its a hypodermic needle and you have an actual beefed up kit I'd assume to inject various types of meds and things like adrenaline into the body, in a small kit like this prob wound cleaning, though you could just use a water bottle
