Once again another Wood Shop Diaries masterpiece. I've said it before and I'll say it again, who is the best daughter? We all know the answer to that. Looking forward to you're next project.

Now this is a bit of a departure - and a very welcome one it is! Love the branching out into new areas of woodworking and home improvement! For someone who "never built a range hood," this one certainly looks like the product of an experienced craftsman. It's a really nice blend of textures, colors, and angles, and it compliments your parents' design choices very well! Nice. (Yes, I did watch all the way to the end...)

So glad you enjoyed the "not so typical" project! I've got so many "around the house" projects I need to tackle and I'm always afraid people won't enjoy watching them because it's not my usual thing haha. Also thank you! Mom had an inspiration photo of generally what she wanted, but I was able to customize it a little. I'm so glad she went with the two tone look--the wood accents make it stand out better than if it was just painted solid white. I'm thankful their kitchen is pretty much finished because soon I'll be working on updating their bathroom 🙈😂 It's always something haha. Anyway, thank you so much for watching and following along. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend and can't wait to share the next build soon!

Awesome job!!! When I built our decorative range hood, I added so much support to the frame my husband was like yeah it's not going anywhere, I just kept adding & adding 2x4 my boys thought I was making a playhouse for them 😂 3yrs later still looks new (I did a limewash-like finish to look like stone tinting joint compound & applying w/a trowel).

Impressive!! Honestly one of the easiest to follow stove vent /range hood cover videos I’ve seen! -do your parents a solid and caulk between the ceiling and cabinets so it hides the random bits that aren’t evenly spaced 😂. Question: did you use the same wood and stain for the corbels? They look a little darker in the video Side note: just found your channel, so far you’re instructions are clear and easy to follow in the videos I’ve seen. Super respect and appreciate that you don’t use promiscuous click bait thumbnails or dress trashy to make up for lack of substance like some tactless women do (it also shows you have respect for your partner). You provide good content and there’s nothing distracting or grimy , Love it!. Also, you look better than most high schoolers let alone someone post 30, I wish I still had a similar metabolism 😅😂. Love how clean/uncluttered and organized your garage/shop is. Do you guys park your vehicles in a separate garage or outside? We struggle with wanting to do both even tho our garage is huge. Usually parking outside wins which isn’t great for the car’s preservation but gives us loads more room for gym equipment and project stuff.

Haha I definitely didn’t have it figured out. There’s a lot of footage I edited out where I was talking to myself trying to think it through 😆🙈 the hardest part was figuring out how to mount the fan-the entire project I thought I was going to screw it directly to the frame and trim it out after the fact. Then I realized I could attach it from the top to the plywood panel and I was like why didn’t I realize this before?! 🤦🏼♀️ I’m just glad it’s finished and mom is really happy with it. Really beautiful piece. Watching those angled, mitered cuts made me glad I model first, then the model tells me what my angles need to be. I know you've modeled your stuff in the past before, but had you thought of doing this? I say this as a total novice back seat quarterback. Glad to see another video. Looking forward to the next one!
@WoodshopDiaries5 ай бұрын
Thank you! I’m not sure what you mean by modeling-do you mean drawing it digitally? In about 99% of my projects, I don’t draw anything in software until I’ve actually built it. I find it easiest to assemble first, then go back and draw it up to make plans. I’m weird, I know haha. It’s easier for me to think it through in real life than software. Whenever I show sketchup models in a video, I almost always made those after the fact just so I could explain what I’m doing 😅 So glad you enjoyed this video-can’t wait to share the next one! Have a great weekend!

@cjplay25 ай бұрын
Looks cool! What determines your staple or nail depth for your shots? Does the inside have any penetrating fasteners?
@WoodshopDiaries5 ай бұрын
Thank you! Normally, I would obviously try to keep the nails at a length that wouldn't stick through the back side. However in this case, the trim on the 1/4" plywood was overall only about 1/2" thick and the shortest nails I had in the shop were 1". So that's what I used and some of them did stick into the inside of the hood, but it didn't affect anything as the fan insert was so far away from the sides (several inches in all directions) when installed.
