Welcome back! In this video I’ll be going through how I built my rear table, the materials you’ll need and what I could have done different. I’m overall quite happy with my table but I am hoping this video will give you a bit more confidence and insight into building your own.
I’ve collected all the materials into one list below. Everything can be bought at Bunnings Warehouse in Australia, and I’ve only listed the items I’ve used. Not to mention, I’ve mostly listed the cheapest versions of them. You can of course buy more expensive tools if you’re concerned about them lasting, but these tools should hopefully assist you with more than just building a table for your Jimny.
You’ll need the following:
• Ozito 810W Pendulum Jigsaw - $69.90
www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-810...
• Ozito 200W Detail Sander - $32.98
www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-200...
• Ozito 3.6V Cordless Screwdriver With USB Changing Base - $34.98
www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-3-6...
• Project Panel 1200 x 897 x 7mm Premium Grade Radiata Plywood - Price differs (around $30-50 for a plate)
www.bunnings.com.au/project-p... - I personally wouldn’t go with plywood that’s much thicker than 7mm as it will look quite chunky otherwise. But it all comes down to preference.
• Zenith 50mm Matte Black Fixed Pin Butt Hinge - Pack of 2 - $4.31
www.bunnings.com.au/zenith-50... I went with quite small hinges, but this is up to what you prefer. You can keep it small and simple or larger for more stability/support. However, keep in mind that the black plastic panel attached to your door will only be able to hold a certain weight from the table anyways, so loading 20kg+ on there will probably result in the panel falling off with the table attached. Keeping it light is key
• Zenith 4G x 9mm Zinc Plated Self Tapper Pan Head Sheet Metal Screws - 50 Pack - $3.45
www.bunnings.com.au/zenith-4g... - You’ll need to accurately measure the depth of your table to ensure you don’t screw through the table. If you add the width of the table + the width of the hinge, you shouldn’t exceed the length of the screw to ensure that it’s just right for your table. Different methods can of course be used; however this is how I ended up doing it.
• To hold the table up at 90 degrees I used the Grunt 25mm x 10m Polyester Webbing Black - $7.25
www.bunnings.com.au/grunt-25m...
• Zenith Nickel Plated Assorted Snap Fasteners - $9.38 - Alternatively you can use tie down straps - I’ve used both just because my table is a bit larger and to avoid it shaking on uneven terrain.

Other tiny (but important!) tools you’ll need:
• Measuring tape
• Colouring for the plywood. I used the Feast Watson 1L Black Japan Prooftint Interior Stain which can be bought here: www.bunnings.com.au/feast-wat...
• A pen for marking up
• Two small metal plates to be placed in the back for support. I just used something simple like these Zenith 38mm Zinc Plated Corner Brace Brackets www.bunnings.com.au/zenith-38...
• You’ll need four bolts with nuts for the hinges to be attached to the plastic trim and to mount the two metal plates at the back. Such as Pinnacle M3 x 10mm Zinc Plated Round Head Bolts And Nuts - 20 Pack - www.bunnings.com.au/pinnacle-...
