How to build a Rhyniognatha trap (ASA)

You'll notice this trap is very different from the ASE one. This is because the situation is very different. Firstly, we don't have nets projectiles yet which means it's not as easy to check the health of the Rhynio. But also, they have changed something with the Rhynios mechanics, they're not as consistent at impregnating while trapped now. If I come up with something that works well for impregnating while trapped, I will make another video, but no promises.

I know this might be contrary to your typical trap videos, but what about the behemoth gates with doors on the outside and a door separating the tames in the middle? After impregnation, the Rhynio typically flies away - allowing you to shut the door, and pull the impregnated dino out, replace it, and then open the middle door again. I know this isn't as fancy as your other ones, but is there something keeping this particular trap from functioning in ASA?

This is how build turorials should be done. Showing raw mats, what you need to turn them into, placement. The animated bottom bar to choose structure types was icing on the cake too.

Works but I've had them escape several times when they fly up. I simply closed off the rest of the triangle ceilings after it's trapped and no issues since. Nice work Captain!

Still works well as of Dec 19th, 2024. Can take a few go overs to get the Rhynio in depending on how close to the ground you have foundations or perhaps cause of how close the bug was following (was using an Argent as guiding bait.)

Our trap on official works perfectly, impregs while trapped as well, 4 behe gates all around and a top net with pillars with a gap big enough to fit a PT or argy to fly through for kiting. The trick now is to give the Rhynio enough height distance for it to do the sting animation, it seems that is what they changed from its AI on ASA. So your trap will have to be big now for it to impreg while trapped inside with it. Hope this helps in coming up with a trap!

Old school behemoth gate traps seem to still work. We built ours with 2 gates and used bars as to make a cage. You do have to get the host into the cage and it seems to only work on brontos/giga sized creatures. They deff did changes to make it so its easier to let it impregnate just out in the wild. I'm betting they wanted to kind of prevent the whole tribe using one rhynio. Makes me wonder if they will alter reapers also

Yeah, it's a shame Wildcard went down this path of trying to outsmart trap makers. It's not even like every single Ark player uses them. I'll never understand how a developer sees innovation as something that needs to be stamped out. Forcing you to play the game the way they want you to. And KO tames (and a lot of the weird taming methods) are usually just exercises in frustration and are just not fun.

Just make a ɓig box and have two compartments with a large dino gate separating the two this way you don't have to let the bug out to impregnate just put a bronto in the other compartment when the bugs ready to go and close it back this way you can do as many as you want and not have to worry about chasing the bug down if you want to do multiple pregnancy it's much easier than this

Its unfortunate we dont have a way to get it to impregnate while trapped as i had a issue with a high level one not fleeing which ment i had to kill it while it took many hours to find due to the islands very poor levels thank you for the trap as it will make getting its health low much easier

An expensive but useful way for multiple impregnations is a box of 2 wide and 2 tall behemoth gates with a pillar celling.

@@captainfatdog all I can say is they work mostly the same a ceiling placed 3 or 4 high i forget still blocks the venom. I have pillars facing down (open floor) hanging from said ceiling forming a floating cage its the size of a behe gate. all traps I built that have it fall into a trap are hell with pathing so this one is flat. a meglo can run under but I jump over the trap and hope the reaper follows.

did all of this but the rhynio never impregnated, the bronto had pheromone, the rhynio hp was less than 100 but it just kept attacking the bronto. We moved it around, didn't matter, we killed everything in the area and rhynio was focused on bronto the whole time. Our server was very laggy but otherwise we did everything right. How to fix this?

Unfortunately it's a result of server lag causing issues with the AI, best bet is to get online when the server is at low pop/low lag.
