0:51 was some wild shit. Here to learn from the old timers, but also here to learn how not to loose digits. Every thing else was gold.

I've seen his work- and just incredible talented stockmaker. I have always hoped I could afford to have Jim craft a stock for me. Thanks for sharing this video.

That is fantastic! I have a custom Mauser I am trying to find a stock. But all I can find is ones with slimmer designs. Being the caliber is a large bore it has not been easy. I have purchased 3 stocks which I will find a use for since I have so many firearms. But this one custom has been around for 3 years with no luck finding a stock this far. I would just carve the barrel channel out but the stocks are too thin to make it work.

Jim’s pattern stock are $2,500 which make them a great quality for money custom stock!

@@nikoberry is it actually good wood that will last, or is it soft wood? Looks are nice, but I'll never be toting a $50,000 shotgun nice.

@@TheFlyingFatMan it is a very nice piece of Turkish walnut. It’s really solid wood and will last forever.

i really enjoyed your content, this stock turned out a beautiful piece of art. What type of wood did you used ?

Nice wood! Is this a pattern stock or the final product?
@nikoberry Жыл бұрын
This is my final stock, but Jim just sprayed a temporary finishing so I could make sure that everything was right. He now has the stock back to do the final finishing.

@medattemedatte89662 күн бұрын
We can make the Shotgun stock from oak or olive wood.
@akawireguy1197 Жыл бұрын
How is the initial inletting done.? What we see here is easy compared to what is inside the wrist.
@nikoberry Жыл бұрын
Kolar did my inletting with their CNC and picked the blank. Jim built my stock and is currently doing the finishing. Team work to make it as efficient and quick as possible so I get more time to practice with it before the season!

Are you leaving it uncheckered or is someone else doing the checkering?
@nikoberry Жыл бұрын
I am not a huge fan of checkering so I’ll leave it like this.
@whimsicalexpressions Жыл бұрын
But, if you want it checkered, Jim does all his own checkering - also by hand, not by machine.
@CanadianWaterfowler Жыл бұрын
I wonder if that's the actual action of the gun that the stock is made for, or rather (I hope) a dummy, used just for fitting wood to metal... Because if those tools touch a Kolar action by mistake and do some unwanted engraving... someone will be very unhappy...
