Hi Jose. I have to say that you explain very well and I like the fact that you don’t hide any detail of the building. Let me ask you something what is the technical explanation of the relieve cuts you do on the wood to avoid warping? For example What would do that groove in the center of the top wood? Would you do a video giving típs to work with green wood? Would be useful since most of the 2 by’s sold in Home Depot are kind of wet

Great informative video. What was the wood you said to use to avoid using clamps?
@BuildItWithJose4 жыл бұрын
Abigail Zambrano Thank you for watching and I’m glad you found it informative. It’s called kiln dried lumber. I recommend using Clear Douglas Fir wood.

Im half way watching and Im thinking if this is simple or the other way around. Made me chuckle a bit. 😅 Those lumber are nice 👍. I dont think i would find those straight flat at Home depot it will make this build not simple. Since I plan to use circular saw and hand planer. 💡 I might just as well use pocket hole to make it simple.

Hi Julian, thank you for watching and commenting. The project is definitely easier with flat lumber. I tried choosing the flattest pieces at home depot but even so they still needed some straightening. Using pocket holes is another way of doing it! I agree. Feel free to comment on what you want us to build next!

Can you do one without the use of a table saw? 😆🙏🏼

Nice video! I was confused by the amount of lumber though - in the beginning it says three 8 ft 2x12s, but the final bench looks like it only contains two. Is that right?

I made mine slightly smaller out of one 2x12

Safer just to use a router to create your rabbets on the ends of your shelves. Don't forget the beginners who need reinforcement of safe machine operation and tool handling... Exposing the blade on your table saw to cut an unwieldy, unsupported piece of material is very dangerous. One slip and your student will need help opening the ketchup bottle for the rest of his or her life.

I agree! Safety is very important. Safer handling will be emphasized more. Thanks for the tips!

@@BuildItWithJose wow, nice to see the video maker not get all bent out of shape when someone comments about a criticism with the build. really, it was kind of nice to read your response to that safety comment from one of your viewers. and yes, its very much worth stating a "disclaimer" to folks that dont understand how certain cuts are much more dangerous than others and how kick back happens and etc. i dont think mentioning safety concerns is ever a bad thing, if you know certain techniques or cuts are not for the novice or beginner level woodworker. good to read that you are re-enforcing the safety aspect of your builds!!
