Excellent results..really like the way aligning with the existing pavement to make it blending together as one area...Great job showing how it was done for the viewers.. I'm just about to do pavers half of my boat dock 25x5ft, the other half already had cement flooring.. Don't know if the pavers would be sturdy enough to hold my car... still debating.. Overall your project is a A+.....

Thanks buddy...you gave me a boost of motivation, I'm a 1 man team. Have a job about the same size, but i need to put down a 4" inch base. Been running away from the project...but I'm making small steps forward 😎

I still don’t understand what the guidelines are for in the beginning and when laying the bricks?
@oil_can7 ай бұрын
Do pavers with polymeric sand in the joints provide enough impermeability for rainwater to drain off or will water seep into the joints and into the soil below?
@Gambrick7 ай бұрын
Yes, as long as it's installed correctly water will run off instead of draining into the soil below. The patio should also be pitched about 1" per 6-8 feet.
@smthngsmthngsmthngdarkside23 күн бұрын
Another protip: use 25mm square metal poles instead of plastic... it will stay straight. also and most importantly, lay them and level them before dropping your sand... it's sooooo much easier to get it level with less shit in the way

Thanks for the amazing video! Which bricks did you buy? Is it a mix of different colored bricks? The bricks that I see in Home Depot are so dull in color and some of them also have marks. How do your bricks look good? Did you apply a sealer?
@Gambrick2 ай бұрын
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video. Go to the Home Depot website and search red charcoal Holland brick pavers. This color comes in standard 8x4 size or a slightly smaller thin brick.

What patterns do you recommend for a square patio, that has few cuts or no cuts and for a border?
@Gambrick3 ай бұрын
Look up basket weave or stacked bond paver patterns, they can both be laid in a square patio with no cuts. Then I'd use a standard running bond border.

I have two questions, first about how thick do you want the sand? Secondly what are you using for guide poles?
@Gambrick3 ай бұрын
We use 1 inch of sand under the pavers, on top of a compacted base. For guide poles I use lengths of iron pipe.

what sqft was this? i wanted to do something like this as well and its exaclty like this with curves around it too.

It's a little over 100 sq. ft. but I bought about 140 sq. ft. of blocks because of all the cuts.

@@Gambrick do you remember the size of bricks you used?
@Gambrick9 ай бұрын
@@josholivarez3804 Yes, we used a standard size brick paver that's 4" wide x 8" long x 2 1/4" high.

What size pipe did you use to measure sand thickness
@Gambrick3 ай бұрын
I use either 1" or 3/4" pipe with 1" sand.
@ElGancho083 ай бұрын

May I ask the pipes should place horizontal or vertical before screening?
@Gambrick7 ай бұрын
You can run the pipes horizontal or vertical, what matter is how the patio pitches. A patio generally pitches away from the house so that's the direction the poles run, but if your pavers are away from the house then you can run your poles and pitch the patio in any direction.

Do you mean the polymeric sand?

Im redoing mine. The previous home owner had it all uneven. Im not sure if he jaut did a really bad job or it became uneven over time. Any idea what could cause it to become uneven over time?
@Gambrick4 ай бұрын
Usually when pavers become uneven its an issue with one of the base layers. Could be the sand, the gravel under the sand, or the ground itself. Could also be a drainage problem, water can get under the pavers and creates some runoff if you're not careful.
@smthngsmthngsmthngdarkside23 күн бұрын
Not laying the proper amount of roadbase and not compacting in the correct amounts that your compactor can handle. ie a 90kg compactor can handle compacting 1inch of depth at time.

What type of sand did you use for leveling in the beginning
@Gambrick6 ай бұрын
It's standard paver sand, also called leveling sand, that you can buy in bags at Home Depot or Lowes. You can also buy it in bulk at a masonry or landscaping supply.

any fine sand.

I thought polymeric sand was supposed to be compacted into the joints, but you didn't? Was this a type that didn't require that?
@Gambrick7 ай бұрын
It depends on the size of the joints, if they're wide enough the sand will fall to the bottom so you don't have to compact it, but for some pavers we compact two or three times to make sure sand reaches the bottom. You can tell if sand reaches the bottom by how much you're using per sq. ft. of pavers.
