A better cheeper and faster way would be to use Shinny 90° aka L metal on the lid drop studs from the celing every 4ft attach a second 90° L to make the lower front edge. Use a string line or laser, once tacked up fill in at 16 or 24 On center , now repeat from the wall to the 90° every 4ft , then fill in. Easy Peasy.

Thanks! I’m trying to work out if I can retrofit mini-split air conditioning into my kids’ bedrooms with outlets in a bulkhead and then have fitted wardrobes underneath. I know nothing at all about building and construction so videos like this help me be more informed about what is involved and what is possible. Since you only had one duct at the end, could you have made it narrower after the other duct was routed by a 90 degree termination point? Or does it require you build the soffitt a certain size.

I wish you had more of a close up/discussion of how the corners are attached. For the first corner against the wall, it looks like the bottom stud was cut a little longer than needed so the bottom edge can be bent upward to screw into the vertical stud. Really difficult to see this :(

I'm not a professional AC installer but without insulation you would have lots of sweating on a metal duct.

I wouldn’t build a soffit like this, You used a stud on the lower back side and front side of the soffit when you could’ve used, Track on the back side enter studs sideways return them back to the front side. Replace your front lower stud there with 90 or right angle metal,That way you don’t have to cut those c Chanel bars into the stud. You screw those studs 16 on center under the soffit.

& you have a return on the 90 that’s what makes you able to screw that c Chanel without cutting the stud. Maybe brace the soffit every 4 foot too make the soffit stronger
