Very much with you on the simplicity of such a device making it all that more incredible. It really makes you realise how much more tangible, how _physical_ the technology we rely on is, that even if our rudimentary attempts may lack professional polish, the ability to harness it is within our reach after all. That is so cool. A bit of a minor note, but I really enjoy your presentation style, and will be checking out the rest of your channel :)

I respect using your desk mat as a work surface. I do it too, it has a few holes and stains, but it adds character.

Great video! As a student in electronics engineering it's nice seeing concepts I studied in class taken to the most rudimentary level. I recommend looking into amplifiers and analog filters next to stay in the subject of audio, or even ADCs and DACs if you want to get into digital electronics. If you have any questions surrounding those topics I'd be glad to help ✌️

What a fun video! You can try wiring the speaker to the microphone wire on the aux cable and see if speaking onto the cone works as a microphone. Marzipan is pretty good.😂

Great video. Your speaker is very similar to one I made as a young teen in the 90s. I was also surprised how good it sounded.

They had basic amplifiers by the late 1800s (for phone systems) that were basically an early speaker and microphone connected together, and tube amps came around in the 1910s. The reason early speakers had horns was because, due the weak coils and magnets, all they could move inside was a needle connected to a tiny diaphram, so not much different than a mechanical phonograph reproducer. Even after moving coil speakers were invented, they still had to use big electromagnets untill strong enough permanent magnets were available in the 40s.

Fun fact : You can use a motor to do the same things since a motor and a speaker is the same things ! find a small dc motor , connected the same way you did with your speaker ! Now try it and when you don't hear anything , bite the motor shaft and you will hear sound even better ! Basicaly turning your skull into a vibrating speaker ! Very cool and safe experiment to try ! **ps: i'm also only refering to vibrating as compression wave m'okay !

Much of electrical and computer engineering is about taking information and converting it into different forms. Imagine how many times and to which forms a single piece of information is converted to and from as it travels through a network, whether that network be a social network, or a physical communication network like the internet.
