Thanks for this amazing idea! Also I love how mindful you are about keeping your land clean. I thought I was the only human on earth trying to prevent any tiny bits of plastic to get scattered about my land.

I just gotta say it definitely means something I know to myself to hear you say what you said. “Whether you buy one off the website or not that’s 100% your own deal. But if nothing else try to come up with a backup water source in these uncertain times. I encourage to build your own or buy one of ours.” That right there shows your are a man who takes pride in their work, but at the same shows that you are humble in your own right. You have the equipment and knowledge to make your own and sell them to those less handy, or showcase all your knowledge in a step by step video and encourage someone to take a step out of their own comfort zone and try something new. I know living in KY the money is hard to come by and always helps, but knowing you are willing to help others even encouraging to diy it and not trying to force someone to be like “hey buy my stuff!” That makes me glad to have you here representing the south and the state of KY!

This tough ole root is back. Just spent the last few minutes rewiring the fog lights on my car. I need them to get home safe as I’m down a headlight lol

I was wondering...have y'all ever considered building into the side of a hill? seems like it would insulate better, plus take up less of your "level" garden/yard/parking area.

It's interesting you mentioned that, I have several books about Earth shelter designs. And that's our overall goal but right now we're just trying to get anything at all built before winter hits! And we're actually only starting with a single room with which will add additions on to as the supplies and funds become available. It'll actually be more of a tower than a room lol which I think will be an interesting build even if something that tall and skinny comes with its own complications! But this should be one of many tiny houses will put on this property with our final dwelling being farther up the mountain.

I had to purchase everything in bulk, to make these kits as cheap as possible. I believe those came off of amazon, although most of the other ones did not.

Why don't you make them deeper for more water

This isn't meant to hold any water. You want your main collection a certain amount off the bottom of the dam otherwise sediment will build up and clog it too quickly, and you want some amount of distance between the main feed and the overflow as well as the overflow on the top.

@@SteepintheWoods interesting, about how high off the ground should the main intake pipe be? Also, how do you layer the inside of the dam from bottom to top? Thank you in advance!

How is water made from this ?Does this require a live spring on your property?

We have a playlist on our channel all about springs and their development. You will need some source of water for them to work, and you would be surprised how little it takes! My advice would be to look around for a wet spot on your property, when you locate a spot you simply dig it out as much as you can and place this development kit at its base.
