Yes! Thanks Jon, I've got a mate whose massively into 4x4ing, here in australia, no less - where you often go up to 600km from the nearest reliable services. He doesn't take anything more than extra water and a recovery system (straps, cables, shovel, tracks) and I think he's crazy. We're going to a place called The Simpson Desert Conservation Park (punch it into google earth to get an idea of its remoteness) in a couple months so we WILL be starting with the stuff you've mentioned, and probably expanding a fair bit in some directions!

I made it to Perth back in 1985 when I was in the Navy. I had a chance to explore the backcountry. Mighty pretty down there. Thanks for watching my friend.

Well thought out sir and yes, it's all to be designed around where one lives. Living in the southern Arizona desert, I carry water....lot's!!... in hard containers. And you are indeed smart to that Hi-lift jack. I have rescued some who did not have one. When running alone, I would suggest that you might think about adding a battery jump unit. When a battery decides to die, it can fail rather quickly. Happened to me. The thing just up and quit after only two years of service.

Nice kit. I have a similar kit in my truck, along with a hatchet, I carry a Fiskars X-25 axe (lightweight and dependable), and also keep a Daiwa Minicast backpack fishing pole and kit. Being in Tennessee, I keep a good sleeping bag this time of year too.

Good set up bro! Who wouldn't keep a tactical teddy bear. I tell you what, when I get my first 4x4 to go romping in the desert, I'll make a video for the kit I choose to have. Till then, I'll be on two wheels. I just posted a vid on what I carry for riding around town. Thanks for sharing sir.

Being in CA. I guess that's why you don't show/carry any firearms. A Henry Survival Rifle plus a sidearm and rifle are also normal. I usually carry a spare for everything that is critical. That includes signal, fire, shade, water filter, hunting and defense. Knives are critical so I carry several of those. I like your setup. I treaded in my TJ about 10 years ago and now have a Land Rover. I carry my kit in a large, water proof hermetically case.

Well damn... guess that's why I am failing... no tactical teddy bear =\ Sadly my Jeep is a shambles... a complete mess. I've been meaning to clean it out and organize it. So no video until that's done. Thanks for the video.. I was digging that driving clip at the beginning.. I could have watched more of that.

Nice video. I'd probaby spend $5 bucks on a rubbermaid (or something similar) bucket to hold that gear in. That box can rip and can't hold water.

That box has character. Lol. Thanks for watching.

Is there a particular reason you carry a tow strap as opposed to a snatch strap? Didn't know you were from So Cal. I'm in Simi Valley. Spend a lot of time in the Southern Los Padres NF.
@Wingman1159 жыл бұрын
I misspoke I have a recovery strap in the jeep. I'm not doing crazy stuff like rock gardens or anything. I can't afford the repairs! LOL I explore the old jeep trails in the backcountry a lot of times by myself due to my work schedule I'm off on weekdays.
