Random, only one that matters is the leader slot.

so does rotations/linking partners mean that in a battle you try to keep the partners on 1 and 2 spots always? wouldnt that be hard sometimes due to the type difference of the enemy?

It’ll always be situational. But often you’ll find that a unit who gets their defense on super attack will want to be in the 2nd slot always

Second leader can be used as another rotation piece, all depends. I like to build my teams with 2 rotations in mind just in case the friend support isnt a slot one/two option at all times
