Beautiful, accessible, little project that I find very attractive and not at all intimidating. Thanks very much. I’ll give it a go.

I remember buying my first (and last) scroll saw, ooo say 4 decades ago, got it home, found it couldn't cut straight, broke the blade that came with it, then found that I couldn't buy scroll saw blades anywhere - it is sitting in my shed somewhere 4 decades later and has only been used 2 or 3 times and then only for testing. Ever since I make a note of whether consumables are available for things I buy - it is amazing how often they are not. Bunnings are especially bad at that. Great job BTW.

Mycroft Holmes - I agree it’s a big problem getting parts for stuff from Bunnings. I started with a Bunnings-quality scrollsaw. Big mistake. All my stuff is cheap EXCEPT for the scrollsaw. It’s the only tool where you get exactly what you pay for. Unfortunately the cheap scrollsaws are just not fit for purpose.

Love it, must try that. Shame there isn't a way to cut the lid locator piece from the piece cut from the inside as it is the right size and shape. Thanks for sharing.

Yes can’t be done as the blade cut width makes it too sloppy a fit.

Thank you! Great tutorial and simpler than I thought! I want to make a guitar shaped box for my husband to put his picks (thumbs picks too so bigger than usual) and I’ll do just like you! Thanks a lot!

Excellent. Your guitar shaped box should look fantastic and be a one-of-a-kind.

Oh, well spotted! I’ll just steal your idea and make some for my friends. I repair all their stringed instruments and keep them playing in tune, though I don’t play a lick. I guess I’m just a shop kinda guy. Wonderful idea. Thank you.

Nice project ... I like your scroll saw. I recently acquired an inexpensive one from my 96 yr old father, but it needs a little loving attention first, to clean up the table surface.

Garth Howe - those very old scroll saws are usually quality items. Worth restoring.

Nice work as usual mate. I notice Aussies are always experts when it comes to butt gluing.

Robonza - ha! Funny. Not that there is anything wrong with a bit of gratuitous butt gluing between friend !

How do you keep edges smooth -sanding?
@ShedBuiltStuff2 жыл бұрын
The scroll saw leaves a smooth edge cut.
@NMranchhand Жыл бұрын
@@ShedBuiltStuff Is that dependent on a particular blade choice you make?
@ShedBuiltStuff Жыл бұрын
Yes I guess. The finer the blade the better the cut. But the finer the blade the thinner material it will cut through. I’ve used a number 7 blade (blades go from 1 which is finest) the blades are the “pinless” type. The larger pinned type blades make quite a rough cut and I don’t use those.
