Well done. Tommy you gave that attentive, articulate and confident young lady excellent instruction. She handled all the tools very well. Nice content. She’s going to think about this experience every time she uses her new workbench. That’s pretty cool right there. I would like more video of Tommy teaching kids his skills and wisdom.

Everyone needs an uncle Tommy. She’s amazing. I only noticed she had one functioning hand towards the end of the video, didn’t even notice it for ages. Good on ya girl! And good on ya Tommy, you are in my heart 👏

Tom Silva, YOU sir are the man! Took s few tissues to finish watching this amazing event. You checked every box, kind, patient, humble and sincere. Let’s not forget the star of the show. What a refreshing breath of fresh air this young girl is. Nothing will stop her. My hat is off to her and her skills. Can’t imagine what she will do next. Just a wonderful thing to watch.Camila, you go girl !!!

I watched This Old House since the beginning. It is so heartwarming to see Tom pass on his knowledge to younger generations to continue the traditions of carpentry. I could cry. It’s is so beautiful to see the handing down of knowledge for generations to come. 😰😰😰❤️🙏🏼👍🏼

Ok, first: Tommy Silva and This Old House is a national treasure. So much better then every home improvement show on hgtv. Second: a kids show would be a smash hit to educate and get kids interested in being more handy with tools (and adults like myself who aren’t very skilled). I have yet to see a personality on this show who isn’t likable. And finally, the girl is awesome. “Disability” aside, her or other kids like her would be such a successful show. You can tell she did more building that bench than any of the “DYI” stars on other shows.

I was thinking 'man, she has some skills and confidence already'. Only noticed after 3 minutes that she was only using her right hand.. :o She's a lot more precise and deliberate than most of the 2-handed DIY'ers I know (: By the way, I like the 'low threshold' contents & feel of this lesson. Simple steps, leading to a quality result. This could give a lot of people the confidence try making things :) (and even though it's 'simple', I learned a couple new things anyway :) . Never had an education in this stuff, so it's very nice to get information on some basics!)

This is a pretty solid little workbench. While once you figure out how it comes together, it is physically Easy to assemble kzbin.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh by yourself. But the diagrams explaining the steps are really pretty bad. I could not get the handle pins in all the way despite multiple attempts, so I just used a screw I had on hand for the 2nd handle. I could not get the first pin in further or pull it back out. You are supposed to hammer it in, but I had no leverage and the handle is plastic and I did not want to risk breaking it. I will get a lot of use out of the bench because of the convenient size and height. It does fold up nicely for storage. They even explain how to fold it so you don't get pinched...that is important!
