hey Bman, I've been running through all your video and wanted to add that yours are some of the best conan build videos I've seen. There's a lot of people building, but yours are entertaining from end to end. I really appreciate the real-life details you talk about during construction - like how this would have been built, why things are placed as they are, or even unique historical facts. I hope you continue these builds, I'll be subscribed and waiting for me. On a side note, I'd be interested to see a build combining multiple tile sets. This seems be a challenge rarely accepted in Conan.
@nickrafuse9844 жыл бұрын
and yes... I realize you did mix tilesets on this build. (well... realized after I commented and re-watched the whole video)
@BmanBuilds4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Well I actually mix tilesets quite often but usually in a subtle way - like in this one. The khitan house also has wooden floors (in the first video insulated wood, in the tutorial I think I've changed it to frontier), savage tower is a mix of black-ice and frontier, even in my latest video (hunting lodge) the little shed/stables are mixed tileset (part insulated wood, part stable sets). I guess what you meant is to create a build with multiple rooms with different tilesets each. That's actually quite common so finding a reasonable explanation is not a problem, the issue is conan's building system because we can't choose texture for each side of the wall separately. Still, that's a neat idea, I'll look into it.
@nickrafuse9844 жыл бұрын
@@BmanBuilds yeah, thanks for interpretting my terrible explanation... I'm finding myself re-watching several of your videos and noticing the mixing more. It's very subtle, but the best things are.

Copying your build and cannot figure out what gate and gate frame you used. Your gate opening is two squares. The frames I have tried are larger (3). Would you be so kind as to specifically tell me the gate info (DLC used and exact name of components)? Thanks Bman! Keep up the great work!
@BmanBuilds4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the gate I'm using is added by mod called "Glass constructions and more". If you're on pc you can get it on steam workshop or If you can't use mods you can simply make the base one tile wider and use the regular gate - you'll have to incorporate it into the first level of roofs though.
@rhammond24104 жыл бұрын
@@BmanBuilds Thank you. Found it in the thread right after I posted. Built 25%(on a pvp server with no mods) of the castle(the 5 by 5's) before I realized the gate was "unique"....Found a good work-around the problem - four door frames and four doors from a DLC. I am almost done replicating your castle and it looks fantastic.

Questions from a pleb on console do you have any recommendations on what I should use for the gates seeing how I can't get mods
@BmanBuilds4 жыл бұрын
The gate I'm using is 2x2 tiles so you have two options - simply use two regular doors and walls above them. This way you won't have to change anything else. You might consider using windows above the doors, maybe make a small walkway there - could look really cool. The other option is to use the vanilla gates which are wider so you will need to scale up the foundation. This is not that hard to do but will require a lot of materials and will interfere with the roofs.

Japan did make the best swords in the world for slashing cutting
@shelbydyer61210 ай бұрын
Nah. They didn't. I'm not a katana hater and I am a giant fan of Japanese history, with regards to samurai and ninja and especially the sengoku era! But the katana is on par for cutting with most other curved sabers, dao, and falchions. They're all very good at cutting and slashing and are great for horseback use. If any types of swords could be called the best at it, though, it would be the swords from the middle east that most people would call scimitars. The Turkish kilij, or the Persian shamshir, or the Indian tulwar. The way that they have a stronger curve in the upper half of the blade allows for stronger drawing and slashing movements! Not trying to be argumentative or anything! I'm just a really big sword enthusiast and love talking about them. Sorry for the necro and have an awesome day!

Could you count up how many blocks it took to build the whole thing. Im trying to build this on a vanilla server. It would be greatly appreciated since you're in creative mode or something.
@BmanBuilds5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I just wanted to say thank you, I always thought of my videos as a simple distraction someone might watch and forget and I never thought that anyone would dedicate their valuable time to actually build one of these. If I may give you just a one bit of advice, build a quick test version in single player first, here's how to do it: - start a single player game and in server settings click "make me admin" - go to admin panel and get the building materials you need (a single piece of each) - make sure that godmode is checked on the left side panel - quit the menus and hit CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + F10 - this will make your building blocks infinite (that is how I'm building in my videos). Now go to your chosen spot for the castle and just try to build the foundation outline so that you can see if it fits the terrain and, once you're happy with it, choose one piece (a corner works best) and screenshot it for reference so that you can start building from the exact same spot online. If you're building near a cliff or some other terrain feature pay special attention to rotation of the corner piece so that the obstacle won't block the walls. If there are any elements you're unsure how to build, or are confusing in any way - build them too. Also this is good way to try different options (i.e. the roof decorations) without wasting resources. As for the number of blocks - I'll check and update this comment later (I just turned on my pc while drinking morning coffee). Edit: Sorry it took a while but I've finally had a moment to check the castle in game and calculate the number of blocks it has. Square foundations - about 1600. This number will vary significantly for your build. There are a couple of factors contributing to this - how flat is the area you've chosen and how many basement levels you want under the towers being the two most obvious. Ramps - about 280. This can also change greatly depending on your location. walls (including windows, doors, wall caps, etc.)- around 900 - if you follow the same window pattern as I did ~1/4 of that number should be windows. This number can change depending on the roof decorations, rooftops etc. Roof corners - 84 Sloped roofs - 334 rooftops (including ends and junctions) - 54 Some of the sloped roofs will be replaced by internal corners to either accommodate the gates and battlements or for decorative gables (as seen at 14:40). I hope this helps, cheers.

@@BmanBuilds 1600 foundations is insane but im willing and dedicated to build it. I really appreciate you taking the time to put much love and information into your instructions. I really appreciate the tip im going to try it in singleplayer first just to make sure I can build it where I want and it'd look right. I'll be coming here a lot for new builds but also to rebuild this on any other server I play. You have helped greatly.
