I tried this but its not that simple...I think you have surpassed all the configuration. I my case the number of errors that I faced are huge. Also, the bot refused to read from the source data and gave error like "Insufficient permissions to read from Google Chat. The caller must be a Workplace user with sufficient IAM permissions to configure the project's Google Chat API."

Also would it be possible to forward the chat history by default to a different user? For example, if this is a bot created for a client, it would be ideal to let them access the chat history.

There is no limit on the number of files. But remember to select the correct type of data i.e. structured , unstructured data types when creating the data source.
