@@blank.24 Labels on the cells says 2500 mAh (2.5 Ah). Thats the capacity. 2500 mA load will work 1 hr. 500 mA load will work 5 hr. The guy says 20 amps, but that must be max current, and has nothing to do with capacity or lasting time.

Interesting. I want to make one myself..But I wish there was a video showing you how to actually make a battery pack. I have searched 100s of videos and they are all the same. Add the batteries, add the BMS board and it's done!!! Which wire goes where? On the BMS what is P+ P- Exactly where and why? What is the tape you use? If this video was an hour long and it took you step by step for dummies. I would watch the whole thing.! 🙂

@@WesThatTechGuy What would you recommend? I want a USB power bank for a phone and tablet.. Im using 14 (18650 Q30) cells in parallel (42Ah). I'm aware i could connect that to a Normal USB out board with a micro usb charge port but the charging times would be horrific and not good for the batteries i assume. so was looking at BMS, so i could wire in a better charging source. There seems to be alot of miss information or just bad advice its a mine field. any tips would be helpful as im starting out. Unless there is a better way that you can suggest.. Thanks for replying!

@seanmikhaels
@seanmikhaels 5 жыл бұрын
Mark Cooper Agree, there could be tons of improvements, but i think its a good start. That particular BMS has a high current shut off i believe, and short circuit protection built in, but always wouldn’t hurt to be 100% safe and add some fuses to protect each cell from blowing up.
@Nitrxgen
@Nitrxgen 5 жыл бұрын
Well... that BMS is designed for 3S and he does actually connect it the way it's intended, for the most part, with 4 nickel strips connecting to each end set of parallels. You can't really balance each cell per parallel because... they're parallel, they're connected to each other. The length of each strip may impact how balanced it is over time but those nickel strips should be pretty good while I reckon. I'm not a fan of this particular video but I dunno if I can fault him that much. I would've done a better job attaching the BMS and output cables though. I would've gotten a less cheap BMS perhaps with the wires already attached.

Hello Wes That Tech Guy, I made my first 3s batterypack few days ago. Using 3 x 4 = 12 cells. I did not solder or weld them. I used the spring loaded 3 cell plastic containers, and glued them back to back opposite directions. No cell touches eachother. But from the top and bottom I attached lot of wires, positives, negatives, and balance wires that goes together to the BMS at one end. Then I ducktaped the whole thing. I am using it to run powerful 100watt LEDs on my bike. Is it safe so far?

Here are the requests once again, kindly respond. 1) Do you sell PURE (99.6%) Nickel strips for 2P design through your AMAZON store? If so, please point to that link. If not please recommend a HONEST Vender who sells the same. 2) The Spot welding on those batteries look so perfect. I’m sure that welding machine must be a SUNKKO. What model is that and do you sell the same model, through your AMAZON store? FYI I use SUNKKO 788H that is so useless, that the welded Ni strip can be peeled off very easily. Any help from your side will be highly appreciated. Thanks and regards. Sree...

So IF you wanted to balance each cell individually you would have to make an intermediary circuit that could select each single cell during charging and then when done charging, recombine into the 3s 8p configuration for discharging? Curious as to why that might be overly cautious/unnecessary.
@rty1955
@rty1955 5 жыл бұрын
As far as I can tell the ONLY way to charge LiOn cells properly is to monitor EACH cell for temperature which will adnust the current (amps) to each cell. The voltage applied is also monitored. With simply a series/parallel conntection there is no way you can charge this pack correctly. If a cell goes bad it may explode, catch fire etc. Current draw from discharge should also be limited. Any over current draw can destroy a cell as well. Smh

@@WesThatTechGuy Thank you for the reply. The reason I asked is a rather confusing youtube video suggested that charging through the bms won't supply the correct charging curve for the pack and you end up with an incompletely charged battery. You are not controlling the state of each cell, so you just make the same mistake everyone does. Once one or more individual cells give it up, your battery is gone, leaving good cells out of order. This means you are just copying the bad habits of before. You NEED control of each cell individually.
@WesThatTechGuy
@WesThatTechGuy 4 жыл бұрын
Johan, this is NOT so. If 1 cells goes out in the series the others will still work just fine. 1 has nothing to do with the other. This really isnt any difference than individually fused cells. So not sure what you're saying? Thanks for watching!

@@WesThatTechGuy So could you clarify, if one were to cut strips of copper and spot weld those strips to batteries in series or parallel they WOULD work more efficiently correct ? When priced on Amazon, the copper strips are $31.66 for a pack of 10. Which is way too expensive. HOWEVER a medium sized 'plate' of pure copper is 4 or 5 bucks... So this is the bases of my confusion. Do these 'strips' have other properties that make them more effective electrical connectors ?? It just seems silly to me, a DIY guy, maker guy NOT to use copper when the only problem, apparently, is the pre fabbed size of the strips. Its easy to cut 20 or so strips of copper.
@WesThatTechGuy
@WesThatTechGuy 5 жыл бұрын
Copper is in fact the next best electrical conductor to SILVER. Silver is the BEST. So yes as long as there is no issues with spot welding copper to the specific battery cells type of metal tabs. I've always used nickel myself as this is the best method for the products readily available. Never used copper for this. Copper can be used as a sheet or even a small diameter pipe from the hardware store can smashed to make a buss bar and this could be a cheap method.
