I made a quiver by following your instructions and I really like it. It's very lightweight and quiet. I like it much better than bow quivers. Thanks for sharing this idea!

Until today, when I stumbled onto this channel, if asked what I figured a KZbin channel named "Hunt Primitive" was about, my guess would've been hunting with a lever action Marlin 30-30, or an AKm, or something, using the iron sights. This is way more interesting to watch.

Thanks for the video. I've been brain tanning hides for a while now, just decided to take the next step and learn how to make things out of the tanned hides as well as leather. Got a starter crafting kit for leather so this video is really coming in handy as most of the tools are completely foreign to me

Probably the oldest and best design ever thought out. Make it to half the length of your fletching and you can turn it 45 degrees and the arrows wont fall out. The fletching wont be crushed either. Fit it to the left and hang it like a belt quiver, throw it either across both shoulders or hang it like a conventional shoulder quiver. Leave some ties fastened to the stiffener and tie your bow across it for storing or easy carry. Leave a long flap at the top and flip it over the top of your fletchings to protect them from the rain. Mine has two metal cinch rings in the middle of the carrying strap and the stiffener is on the outside of the quiver. I can adjust the strap to any length I need in a second. I've used all kinds of quivers, shoulder, mounted on the bow, belt quivers. The old primitive European, Asian, Native American quiver is the quietest, handiest, most utilitarian quiver I have ever used. And it was first designed by the earliest man. That's a good looking quiver!

Great video. How does the quiver hold up with bow tips for hunting? It doesn't seem wide enough for the tips.

great job! i found a tool yesterday not sure what it is but it is limestone with flint infused to it. never seen anything like it i could email you a picture. also cant wait to get the knives me and my rock hound buddy ordered you do amazing work! thank you for putting out instructional videos not many people do much love from texas bro!

thanks very much, I greatly appreciate it and thanks for following along as well. Sounds like a cool find. Most knappable rocks have a knappable cortext on the outside, so if you use a piece right along the edge, it can have cortext still stuck to the good rock.

I like the quiver, but isn't that quivers were having a thing layer of wood inside of them? For reliability or something
@steveness99692 жыл бұрын
Is this the same Quiver you use for hunting? I am interested in the one that keeps your arrows from rattling.

So I accidentally put the support rod on the fold side of the quiver not the stitched side. I pulled everything as tight as I could get it but I can still easily slide it out. I know it's probably not a big deal but is there a way to remedy this or perhaps anchor the rod in better?

Hey Ryan, I’m curious if you have ever built/hunted with a horn bow. I know it’s a time consuming process to make one. Are they worth the effort?
@draven38383 жыл бұрын
Horn bows are great to hunt with , I have one I use they will shoot thru an elk with no problems at all . They cast carbon, wood and bamboo arrow really fast , mine is about 422 fps

great video man. really informative. just for your information though, its called a running/runners/straight stich. as a leatherworker, i can tell you a saddlers stich requires two needles and is much more complex however provides a much stronger end result. maybe look into it for you own personal gear. i wouldnt advise using a saddlers stich in this project though mainly because of the time required, resources used and because it really isnt worth it for the strength benefit. plus the possibilty of pulling the thread straight through the relatively thin and plyable leather your using. keep up the great work.

Hey Ryan do you ever wear gloves when skinning? Just curious because I haven’t seen you do so in any of your vids. I think the general opinion is that gloves prevent disease and such.recently I killed and harvested my first squirrel with a Paiute deadfall And skinned it without gloves because there Were none available at the moment. . which is actually making me kind of nervous.
@huntprimitive99184 жыл бұрын
Nah, I never wear gloves for that kinda stuff.

The stich he's using on this is a double running stitch. "Saddle stitching" uses 2 needles with one thread catching a loop in the second thread and interlocking between the leather layers. Just saying. A body could use a whole list of various stiches and they all work.

AWW i"d like to stongly advise you and anybody who want to sew /stitch leather or tough materials together to buy a SPEEDY STITCHER.Yes that is its name and it is an ancient tool of saddle makers of olde,however it"s history leans back to millenias.With that little tool you can easily repair even shoes/boots /mocassins (i just made myself a bronze age pair of shoes)i carry with me the Speedystitcher wherever i go .It is cheap ,cost me around five bucks and it last a lifetime.Strongly strongly recomended.
