How to Build an Indoor Putting Green: step-by-step

hey, i am building a putting green of my own very soon, just ordered turf today, i plan on have little tiers on both sides of my green, over about a total of 4 feet from start to finish of slope, how high of a rise would be too aggressive? I got the top of the line putting surface, gonna be atleast 11 on the stimp, very high quality. i was thinking about 3" of slope over 4 feet, to go from a flat up a tier to another flat. thanks man, project looks nice that you did. ill let you know how mine turns out, gonna build it a little different than you though.

Mod Squad well if it's only across four feet, and the stump being 11, 3" would be a little severe. I'd go with 1" 1/2 or 2". I learned the less slope the better. The problem is these mats are so much nicer than real greens that any slope just makes the ball break a ton. I put a little too much in mine. Hope that helps

It is called pool base. It is used under the vinyl liner in a pool. It is also called vermiculite, you can buy it pre-mixed which has the cement in it or you can buy it just as the vermiculite and then later add the cement yourself. You can find it at some pool stores that do vinyl liner pools or maybe you can find the non-pre-mix at a good nursery for plants. Because it's used without the cement in soil for plants.

should replace that putting surface with a birdie ball putting green. not because i think yours suck but because it's the most incredible surface to putt on that isn't real. i love what ya did. how you made that base with pool mix is bad ass. great idea. well done brother.

Why did you use pool base instead of regular cement, and did you use carpet padding?

Stevephen Lott I am guessing it would be softer. More similar to a real green softness. I would use this for chipping as well.

I got it off of amazone just search "12x20 putting green" and its the one for $900 and you can choose a ton of sizes but the green is really fast on the stimp, like i tested it and it was about 15 and yes its all one piece

Make a topographic map next time :P seems like it would be slightly easier to follow instead of all those dimension lines

Very very fast. It’s about a 14 which is a little faster than I’d like. We tried to sand it to slow it but it didn’t help.

This is just superb, I've been looking for "best putting practice" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Graysonyon Putter Prolific - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my m8 got excellent results with it.
