How to: Build an Off-road, Big Wheel Engine Hoist, Cherry Picker

After 16yrs I've grown tired of fighting engine hoists. Whether its getting caught on zip ties, cracks in the concrete or just having to negotiate gravel I've had enough. I decided to modify mine with riding mower wheels. Boom problem solved.

I'm building one very similar but using zero turn swivel front wheels so I can turn it. May even do an assist if sorts

Dang boi!!! I just fought with one yesterday pulling a 2.4 ecotec engine, actually they should have a metal zipper on one of these pieces of junk to make it easier WHEN they blow, not if. I knew somebody had already done this i will be converting mine too. I won’t be pulling this engine again, I found out about Gapless Piston Rings, a gapless top ring, I was told by the this company, controls oil consumption and keeps the oil from exhausting out to be burnt

On the one I built, I welded the stub shafts to the open end of the V. The post end has a tube for sliding in a trailer coupler. So the vehicle acts as a counterweight.

Fixed tires for no help steering good enough under heavy load pushing by hand around the yard to move boulders? Or is it worth the effort of fabricating steering spindles?
