Thanks Tom. I have something similar, but I use 3 chimney blocks that work out to the same size for the base. I put bluestone flagstone on the top with a turntable under the pot. I also have a version with a Lowes Yorkstone 18 x 18 Gray Concrete Patio Stone on the top ($7,18.) My benches are standard cinderblocks in three different stacked height next to one another with four 2x4s placed on the top of each level. When I repot, I put the old soil (pumice, akadama, and lava, unless pest or diseaseis present) under the benches. This will be my third year, and I am happy with the arrangement. Wind shear can occur occasionally, but even tied down a few blew off. My benches are visible to passersby so I don't store under them.

I painted my concrete blocks a toast brown color, i like it
I have benches like that, but instead of pots on the lower shelf, I have a piece of gutter set between the boards, slightly higher on one end, so I can reclaim run through water. I manage to collect quite a bit that I can dump back in my rain barrels and re-use.

Currently using a drip system and my waste is an minimum but that’s still a great idea

Any plans for adding shade for the SoCal summers? Your backyard looks great.

I have shade the 2nd half of the day. Only one spot may need a shade structure...I'm thinking about it...but I dont like how they look like.
