my steps are 1)earn money 2)pay your debts one by one 3) get your utilization under 30% at least 4) have a maximum of 2 credit cards only! that way you got a nice little cycle of credit leaking in
@BeatTheBush8 жыл бұрын
+Christian Ruiz If you have debts you got it spot on. To pay all debts off is the ultimate goal. You might reconsider #4 because having more cards from various banks boosts your credit score by increasing you total credit limit and hence reducing your utilization ratio given the same amount of spending.

I can speak from experience. April 2015 I had a 546,536,544 credit score . Today my credit score is 740,740,740 on all three credit bureaus. I understand that every situation is different. For me, I could have figured out what to do on my own but Id rather pay someone else to save me the time. The guarantee of 40 points every 4 months helped as well. There are a lot of things that I can do but things I consider important I rather hire professionals. The telephone number I use is 518-344-0400 here in illinois “itechhacks AT techie . com I am sure that they can help regardless of location.

Don't worry about a credit score of 848, there are no advantages to a score of 848 over a score of 800 or even 775. It might be fun to show it off but if you are in the upper 700s going any higher does nothing for you.
@BeatTheBush8 жыл бұрын
Correct. However, you can get even better rates having a higher score than 700. Over 760 then there is absolutely no difference. Still, if you have over 760 allows you the room to cancel cards without worry about reducing your score enough to get a worse interest rate.

your right about kay and Zales they don't charge annual fees. but there's nothing in that store that's affordable once you paid off that card. it's not like going into Macy's or Nordstrom's where you can find something affordable. you won't find something small to charge , watches , jewelry will be expensive whatever they sell.

You really need to be below 30% of credit utilization. So, having multiple credit cards increases your credit which can lower the credit utilization.

Capitol1 quicksilver Bank of america cash reward Capitol1 venture 1?
@BeatTheBush8 жыл бұрын
+Mark Santucci If the oldest card you have is only a few years, you will probably see a significant drop of your credit score after you close it. I would close it anyway just to avoid the fee though. Working with only a few cards only a few years old, I would not have gotten the Citi TY Premiere with the intention of closing it because you having a track record that young, you are not at a point of being able to close accounts without dramatically affecting your credit score. 1.5% is nice but 2% on the Citi Double Cash back is even better if you can get approved for that one. That one would be a great everyday use card for anything else not in a category. Those other cards are fine but none of them are the top ones I like. BofA Cash Reward is great for the sign up bonus.

I like to pay weekly on my credit cards, but is it better to save for 4 weeks (of what I would normally pay my cc) and then pay the 4 weeks worth at once at the end of the month? I thought by paying weekly you keep the balance down the lowest since interest is added daily...or am I wrong?
@BeatTheBush8 жыл бұрын
+buddy If you carried a balance from last month, then you get charged interest daily. If you don't carry a balance, you have a grace period of about 20-30 days until interest starts accruing. So you can pay at the end, in that case, without paying interest. Even if you don't carry a balance, you can pay weekly to lower your utilization ratio but that's a crude method of minimizing utilization ratio. See my video on how to boost your credit score to minimize utilization. It's essentially paying before you statement date as opposed to your due date.

You can negotiate them down, especially if they are low balances and have been in collections for a long time. However, you might want to dispute them because a lot of the times the collection company isn't reporting them correctly or shouldn't be reporting them at all. Whatever you do, make sure you get it in writing before settling or paying them off.

@JuliansRandomProject8 жыл бұрын
Yes, You could put me in the 'religious camp' of people that believe the borrower is slave to the lender. Been debt free for 10 years after being turned on to Dave Ramsey (radio host out of Nashville). Religion aside I'm ethically apposed to the way creditors treat people so I choose not to participate. Loved to hear you say "Those that can most benefit from Credit Cards don't likely need them" And that millionaires aren't becoming millionaires with Miles & Points. Good on you for keeping it clear.
@BeatTheBush8 жыл бұрын
I knew it! Your first comment is reminiscent of his ideas. I don't like the ways creditors treat people either since it's pretty predatory. Correct, most (90%+ I guess?) will not benefit from using credit cards because they pay a hefty interest. The rest who are responsible credit holders that carry no balance can benefit from the cards. Dave repeats the "I've never seen millionaire brag about becoming millionaires from miles and points" often. It's largely true you do not become a millionaire solely from points since that would be ridiculous. Realistically, I consider points will contribute about 4% of becoming a millionaire, meaning over the course of a lifetime (lets say 40 years) of taking advantage of points, you can easily get $40k worth of points. (4% of $1 million is $40k) $1000 a year for 40 years is pretty easy to obtain. With recreational card usage, you can reach $3000. He also points to people spending more because they do not see the cash leaving their hands. Also true unless you are largely unaffected by marketing than most. Who is largely unaffected? Very few people can stroll around a store and resist the urge to buy nothing.
@BeatTheBush8 жыл бұрын
A ha! I was going to guess him as you repeat the same lines from him. He has a LOT of fans! Credit is like a beast, you have to tame it. If you are able to tame it, then you can benefit. Rather than say it's evil and cut up all your cards as an all blanket approach, I think you just have to figure out which type of credit user you are before using it. "Millionaires don't become millionaires with miles and points" - Dave Ramsey. They don't become millionaires solely from it but I bet it helped about 1-3% (10-30k). So a blanket statement like that is true but I rather say "Some millionaires became millionaires with a little help from miles and points"

@BeatTheBush7 жыл бұрын
It really depends on all your other cards and how old they are in comparison. If your macy's is your oldest, it might have some affect due to changing your average credit age. The thing to remember is, if there's no annual fee and you do not have 800+ score, then don't cancel it.
@Fr33man19889 жыл бұрын
I wanted to ask you about the 6th thing. Why is it necessarily bad to keep a balance on all your credit cards? I usually hear that anything under 30% utilization is the key to help build your credit score. I have several credit cards I use....one for gas only, one for groceries, one for my cell phone, insurance, and cable bill, and one for my everyday purchases. I thought having several credit cards and using them all with under 30% utilization is a good thing.
@BeatTheBush9 жыл бұрын
+Fr33man1988 If you keep a balance then you increase the utilization ratio. The lower that is the better your score. However, I wouldn't know if it is a linear function or if it doesn't matter if you use less than a certain percentage. Based on my experience, the less the better. Plus, if you keep a balance, you incur interest rate fees which is VERY important to avoid. Btw, even if you pay it off every month, the utilization ratio is not zero, its how much you charged it. I wouldn't recommend spending less just to get it lower but rather ask for a limit increase or just wait for an increase.
@jayinla818 жыл бұрын
BeatTheBush Really??? even if I pay it off every month!? please elaborate. I thought you were very clear in your vids that as long as one paid the entire balance by the statement closing date, the mutilation ratio for that particular card would be reported as zero because the balance is zero due to the pay off a day at two before the statement end date??

utilation (not mutilation)

And I recently just applied for American Express blue card and was approved 2,000$ should I cancel my secured card that I have for 5 months since I no longer need it no more? I'm just scared if I do it all at once my credit will go down by 50points...
@BeatTheBush8 жыл бұрын
+Harrison B The credit score you get is the actual credit score from one of the credit bureaus but score from the other two could be different depending on what other information they have on you. There is no way to guess based on information you have from one of them. If you cancel your secured card, it will drop by MUCH MUCH more than 50 points because of your limited credit history and also you wipe out most of your credit limit. If doesn't cost you an annual fee, just keep it for a few years. If you do not plan on needing your credit score for a while, you can just cancel it anyway. If it costs you money to keep the secured card, you might have to pay to keep it just to keep your score up.

No, you shouldn't do that as it doesn't exercise the max limit of your card. Pay it right before the statement date. Let it accrue so the credit company can see you need more credit and raise the limit for you.

I have a score of 689. Trying to build it up. So you advise to open up a lot credit credit socre but warn about opening up too many. Can you clearify? Also I read somewhere that you can't have a credit score of over 700 if you have any late payment in the last 4 years. Is that true?
@BeatTheBush7 жыл бұрын
Sorry if it's confusing. You open as many as you can to increase your total credit limit. But as you open more, you will find you may eventually get rejected from opening up too many. Too many will also reduce your credit score in the short term. Hence, you may want to open 2-4 a year with different card issuers since a single one will limit the total credit they extend to you. It might be possible to have over 700 credit score if everything is rock solid and you only have one single late payment. It's not like a single late payment will drop a 830 score to below 700. So a late payment will affect everyone differently depending on how good the rest of your credit is.
@brightviewcreditrepair25206 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica, you can basically have as many credit cards as you want as long as you don't apply for them all at one time. This will cause you to have a ton of inquiries in a short amount of time and will make lenders think your in a bad financial spot. Also, that is a LIE. Most late payments will stay on your credit score for up to 7 years but will not affect most lending decisions or score after 2 years, especially if you don't get another late pay and continue to add positive credit. Hope this helps.

Great video. I plan on watching more. I really need some help with a situation. I have little to no credit and need to build it. I don't have bad credit but pretty much no credit cause I invest outside the banks. I currently have a capital one secured card and card through my credit union in hopes to build my credit. Does that help with building credit? I mistakingly accepted an offer for a credit one card and was approved for 400.. However there are "setup fees" of 75$. I called to cancel but they offered to lower to 50, then 25$.. I thought about it and still haven't decided. I might call back tomorrow to cancel before any charges are made on the credit one card. Would you recommend keeping the card as a credit builder and just minimize the purchases to around 30% and pay everything off quick in order to help build the credit. They do offer free credit reports so they say.. So what do you think? Is this credit one card worth the risk or is it a scam? or does it help? Ive read horrible reviews and people are saying to run away from it but maybe those people just don't know how to budget or pay their bills? I also see credit one just signed a deal with Nascar a few days ago which looks like a good sign cause at least they are in fact real lol. Any advice would be helpful.

+Ken K. Charging for the privileged of using a credit card is criminal. HOWEVER, this maybe the best thing you can get to build your credit. At least it's a setup fee and not an annual fee. If you use it as a credit builder, I would recommend you put all your purchases on that card up to about 90% of the limit without trying to spend money just to max it out of course. And of course doing this only if you have the money to pay it off every month. Credit reports are free, you can get those free once a year. The card company is just trying to make $25 off of you. Since you are starting out, you may want to watch my other video on building credit for college students. Not knowing if you are a college student or not, but the same principles apply. Here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqmqdnalhtR_gqM

+BeatTheBush Actually I should have said it is an annual fee of 75$ that most people aren't even told about when they get initially get approved for the card in the first place. The company also uses a similar logo as capital one bank which gives me a bad feeling. I did however call them and talked to someone who lowered the annual fee/setup fee to get the account started down to 25$ instead of 75$.. So I guess its hard to know if its worth paying extra fees here and there to build my credit and just keep it for a year or two until I get approved from other credit cards, or if I should just cancel and try elsewhere like capital one, citi, or someone more reputable. I still have a bad feeling about creditone cause the high amount of bad reviews cannot be ignored and people are saying to stay away because of so many fees, fraudulent charges, and trouble with closing the account. So far I'm not sure and part of me wants to just cancel it completely and just stick with my credit union and capital one and try to build up my credit through them. Thanks so much for the info and I am College student and i have two jobs. Do you know any information or have experience with creditone cards?
@BeatTheBush8 жыл бұрын
Ken K. The annual fee would hurt at $75. I mean, even if you try to cancel they probably wouldn't let you at this point. I haven't tried creditone myself since I just started using a Discover card and never even used a secured card before. The many hidden fees really concern me so if you do decide to use it, you need to pay close attention to your bill. Perhaps even counting on spending some time on the phone to sort things out with them if it ever happens.
@MarvelousCards8 жыл бұрын
+BeatTheBush thank you. I'll see if they adjust the fee down to 25$. The lady also said if Im not happy with it after trying it out I can cancel it. I plan on only using about 10% of it for small purchases and pay back just to use it to build. I'm starting to think maybe the people complaining may have been using it the wrong way and not making payment on time. Ill share my experience on your channel and if anyone else out their has dealt with credit one please comment and reply to this. thanks again.

+Ken K. Sounds like a plan. In then mean time, look for another card that has no annual fee to replace this one. You can usually go with starter cards like Discover.

You don't need to do anything as that will get you the best interest rate already. That last bit is pretty hard as it requires MORE perfect history (10 years), MORE cards, MORE different types of credit, MORE income to increase your limits. @BeatTheBush8 жыл бұрын
Well, you don't need 850. You only need to get it above 760 to obtain all the benefits of 850. 850 is just for bragging rights. And I do not think you can do that within a year because part of the equation is a long history of about 10+ years and not just one.

As of today ck score is 684trans. & 691ef. Is it possible to build a great credit profile off of just credit cards. I’ve financed 2 cars in the past and paid them off in full w no late payments (ddnt bring my score up. It hurt it). No student debit(never had student loans). I have zero debit. I was an au for 3yrs. (No long on that account). I have 2 chase cc currently opened June 30 & July 13,2017 (zero balance ). I would like to buy a house within a yr. or so. Do you have any recommendations? Last yr. my score was ck715-720. After having bank run it for house loan it dropped then I dropped being au on the card I was on (I was out bid on house-so ddnt get one). ** I watched your video on closing due dates and $2.00 balance. I will try these on my next billling cycle. You can call your cc to find out closing due date and when your next billing cycle starts. Thank you for all that you do

Probably because your history is not established long enough. And you need more cards with more history. You might want to consider a self lending loan to add to your credit history. More info here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppTaopV-jsSlpbM

Keep it simple by lowering your credit card balance and get a mortgage if you can. Your score might dip a little when you get a mortgage but it will shoot back up within 6 months of payments. Nothing is guaranteed but that should add 20-30 points easily.

If they apply for a new line of credit, it may drop their score depending on how many hard inquiries they have. If they have just one then it will affect it very little. If their score drops, it will also affect yours but I do not think you need to worry about this since its so insignificant.

Andrew Conner You mean one month you spend 30% and one month 90%? If you mean alternate by the statement period then I wouldn't know. Is this one of your first videos? Background so boring 😅 Ice Bat and the peas was not born yet?? 😂🤗 Oh speaking of credit score. So I met someone today with a score 842. Curious about his credit history I asked him about it. He has zero balances. 7 credit cards. CL is probably very high. He's much older. No loans. He uses his card and pays it off right away. Mines is 746. I was SO happy when it finally reached 700 😅😅 I got school loans and more then 10 credit cards with high balances. I'm focusing on paying it all off. I wanna hit 800 😁😁

There's absolutely no difference in a score of 805 and 850. If its above 800, it's all the same. I'm speaking in terms of getting approved for the best cards and best interest rates. So having a score of 805 is essentially the same thing as an 845. I personally have an 807.
@BeatTheBush6 жыл бұрын
The difference comes in when you want to churn cards. It's helpful to have a buffer so that you can cancel cards and not worry about a dip in 10-20 points.
@TheTubeMeister6 жыл бұрын
BeatTheBush I've closed an account and it barely dipped 7 points. Depends on the persons situation what his or her credit report as a whole! That's just my opinion. Now say if someone has a 770 score and another had an 805 score. That's a difference there because you're right, if one cancels their card or they apply for something, taking a 7-10 point dip puts you from excellent credit status to good.
@TheTubeMeister6 жыл бұрын
BeatTheBush but like I said in my original statement, an 805 and 845 doesn't make a difference in terms of "interest rates and approval" for the best credit cards. Am I right?
@thehackerpro0077 жыл бұрын
hi I watched 2 Vids and read many comments about this and I can't help but cringe when you reply to the viewers to apply for many credit cards or whenever they can. applying for cards go down as inquiries and can hurt your score if you go over 2. and it takes at least a year for the inquiry to go down by 1 or the last time you applied for anything. a card, a auto loan. second in one comment you say to use 90 percent of a credit card so you can apply for a higher amount which is all wrong. bankers suggest not going over 65 percent, however using the least helps more. I try not to use more than 10 percent. that's just me. but using 90 percent shows that you depend on borrowing money and no one will want to lend you money because it shows risk. finally you say not to cancel credit cards because they lower your limit, I wouldn't say that...I'd say not to cancel credit cards because it lowers your credit history age, wich is if you have an account open for 2 years then you close it guess what? you're back at 0. lenders want to see a good 5+ years of open accounts and multiple lines of cards.
@BeatTheBush7 жыл бұрын
Where do I start? What you are saying is what people usually follow. However, the methods I recommend are not common and the points you made about my points are taken a bit out of context. The methods I recommend often has a specific situation you are in and so it's not an all blanket approach where you apply it anytime you want. Regarding using up to your limit. This does not apply for everyone and is a method I developed. More info here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6XXgn6wo8ykpac The context for this is that you need to be starting your credit with a low limit. You are trying to force the issuer to give you a higher limit. If you read the comments in that video, others have confirmed it worked for them. Yes it does reduce your score in the short term but it gets you to a higher score later faster. I can think of a situation where cancelling a card will increase credit history age. Cards: 10y, 1y. Before average age: 5.5y. Cancel 1 y. After average age: 10y.

heres my thoughts if a card has an annual fee and somebody doesn't travel on business, even if it's there oldest card it needs to be canceled. now for the jewelry store card since it doesn't have visa, mastercard, American express or Discover logo, after the person with average income is done paying off there card and they no longer need jewelry , since they can't use that card out of the store with there income it's time to cancel that card regardless how old that card is, whether it's the oldest card or second oldest card. so all of the so called experts I would hope they can have fun using a credit card with a 95.00 annual fee and a jewelry store card that can't be used outside of a jewelry store I hope they spend 1,000 per month every month. while somebody get's to use normal cards like the Discover more and Bank of America cash rewards I would bet this person would have more fun picking his places and not paying an annual fee. I like travel cards they seem to be more executive , than the cash back card, if somebody needs to rent a car for whatever reason I would think you get better protection than a cash back card. my choices 1 Capitol1 venture 1 card 2. Bank of America cash rewards 3. Capitol1 quick silver
@BeatTheBush8 жыл бұрын
+Mark Santucci So say the person gets it mistakenly even though there's an annual fee. Should it be cancelled if the card is the oldest and only about 2 years old? I think it depends. The $95 annual fee could be nulled out by spending on gas (not just flight and hotels). The person should consider if they will need their credit score to finance a car or house within the next 18 months or so. If they do not need it then they should cancel it. If they do, it might be worth it to keep the card for now until they are done using their score to get a lower interested rate on financing. Jewelry store card doesn't charge an annual fee so it its probably better to just keep it around while using it once a month on something small. That way you keep your total credit high and it will also show up as active. For car rentals, certain cards have car rental insurance built in ONLY if you reject the car rental insurance AND use that particular card. There is no obvious preference for me other than the best card to use is the one with the most benefit regardless of how specific the application is.
