Hey friends, let's build garage cabinets for Sam @diyhuntress workshop!
This video was sponsored by my friends at Kreg Tool.
I flew up to visit Sam's workshop recently to help her build out her new shop with storage cabinets in just 3 days! We knocked out this project plus the one she's sharing over on her channel here: • DIY EASY SHOP CABINETS...
We built these cabinets for her shop the very same way I built them for mine a while back and they're packed full of storage for her to organize all her tools in her new space!

Thank you for the amazing video. My wife and I really loved it and are about to give it this a try. The only question we have is how bad is it to use pine plywood if you live in a coastal area ? Birch plywood is super expensive here. The other option we have is to use melamine? Would you recommend that at all? I know you’re big on plywood, looking for options here 😂😂😂

Love the video. I'm referencing it many times while I plan my own garage build. Question: How do you remove the shims? Do you just cut it off?
@WoodshopDiaries
@WoodshopDiaries 8 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks so much! Yes just cut the shims where needed. They should stay behind/underneath to keep the cabinet in place. But you can cut whatever is “sticking out” flush to the cabinet with a utility knife or oscillating tool.

So, this is awkward. I know I haven’t been around that much lately, and I never expected you and Sam to ever meet, so I thought I was in the clear following both of you! But you know what, I won’t let you make me feel guilty…I like you, and I like Sam, and I won’t apologize for either! On the real though, it has been a minute, and I know you’ve missed me 😉, but I’m happy to see a video of yours, which is also a video with Sam, and this was a collaboration I didn’t even know I needed in my life until today, but I hope to possibly see more! Hope you have a good weekend Shara, and great build as always!

You know what? You crossed my mind yesterday and I wondered about you and hoped you were doing okay since I hadn't heard from you in a while. So glad you stopped by to say hi! So me and Sam met probably 5 years ago now! I text her ALL the time and probably annoy the heck out of her often. I'm grateful (and a little surprised) she was willing to put up with me for 3 days to help her build! But I hope this is just one of many future collabs...we'll see! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I'm glad you are doing okay! I hope you have a great weekend!

Do you find that 3 hinges work better than 2 hinges for the large pantry cabinets since the doors are so tall and the weight of the 3/4" plywood makes them heavy?

Great build. I saw Sam's video but I have one question? Why didn't you use the jig guide holes to drill for the hinge mounting screws?
@WoodshopDiaries
@WoodshopDiaries Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! That’s a great question…I didn’t want to swap drill bits. I find it quicker and easier to just use a square (or not sometimes) and just drive the screws.

Curious how these, and your shop cabinets, are holding up since you did not use miters / rabbets as is in most kitchen cabinet builds.

My shop cabinets are two years old and good as new. The kitchen and closet cabinets in my last house were built the exact same way and we had them for over three years of heavy daily use and they were as good as the first day I built them when we moved out. I’d not hesitate to build my next kitchen or shop-or any cabinets-the exact same way.
