Also! Sometimes when we start trying to “calm down” our trauma from needing hyper vigilance causes distress. I started very slowly with just trying to put it down for a couple minutes to see if everything “fell apart” and it was uncomfortable, but I did it and realized I could. Sometimes we just need to know we can. You can work on it slowly and safely.

I definitely think I’m an undiagnosed neuro-spicy person. And the more that I read and listen to others who have that kind of experience the more I see it in others that I wasn’t noticing before. Also noticing those traits in myself. Certain lines of work, I think are understanding that they may attract people who have neurodivergent personality types. I am waiting to see if the employer I work for is going to make additional accommodations for such thing. Luckily, other than a few tasks, most things are self prioritized, which makes my job , more flexible. And since the pandemic, I love working from home that has really reduced my anxiety exponentially. I am really proud of you for working and putting in the time to make the improvement that you need or your own well as well as your family well-being. You totally deserve all your credit for that work. Working on yourself therapy oohing to try to make progress is not easy.

I love the ancestor work and Tarot! I have felt a strong pull toward shamanism in the past decade. There is speculation that autistic individuals are natural shamans due to our neuro differences.

I'm not even 2 minutes into the video and already crying because it resonates so much on so many levels and simply imagining child me, sitting under a table (which they do, they've been their since Kindergarten) is heartbreakingly awful Thank you, as always for you videos, I cannot say how much they mean to me

I realised it too, that 'getting it out' helps, and works, how you do it doesn't matter, just find your way

Binaural beats are absolutely great….BUT… I’m taking a break from them because I found myself using them ONLY in stressful times and they then became associated with stress and anxiety and consequently became a trigger for more stress and anxiety. Because that’s how creative anxiety works. Ha. It took me a while to realize that I was having a negative reaction to them. I have to walk away and come back to them when I’m not stressed and anxious.

Interesting. I haven’t found that to be an issue for me, but take a break and find something else. Yes, I use them when I need to work through something, but then they help and calm me down. I also found different binaural beats do different things. So there are several kinds of waves. Some really bother me. Others don’t.

I wonder if that didn’t happen to me because I also use them as maintenance? Meditation is a maintenance practice as well for me. So every day if I can I do my meditation and doing that during times when I can helps a lot with times when I’m in overwhelm. But I’m also not expecting the beats alone to do the healing. Working through it does.

Yes! It’s a maintenance issue. If you use them every day, figurative rain or shine, they probably won’t associate with anxiety. That’s why I’m taking a break so I can start in with them again in a calm space. :)

This is such a profound and healing contribution to our community. I can’t express how grateful I am for this autistic family. I feel seen. I feel real. I feel free to exist. Thank you so much. Love 2 u🩵✨

I'm noticing a trend among us AuDHDers to use tarot and astrology to make sense of things. I was into divining way before learning of my neurodivergence but it has helped me feel seen in a way.
@dsathreads5 ай бұрын
That makes a lot of sense. Yeah, a lot of us really wish to know ourselves and it’s a way to tap into that.

I love Tarot! I kinda see it as a random story seed generator. I'll deal a set and use that to create a short story.

I related to so much of this video, and it made me realize how many of these tools I already use-though they are often heavily personalized to work for me. For example, my “internal family system” (I’ve had therapists refer to it as “parts work”) is much more of a found-family with strong fantasy vibes, because that is a concept that feels more accessible to me. Your video made me appreciate my internal safe/brave spaces more, and recognize the role that they play in my life and my personal growth ❤

I’m so glad! They are valid and really wonderful ways our imaginations can help us.
