Helpful lessons. I started to play 2 years ago and I struggle with the slide technique. Heel-toe technique seems to be easier for me but I really want to learn the slides.
@roby69933 жыл бұрын
You don't need to use the slide technique to go fast. For example, George Kollias, an extreme metal drummer who can play very fast blast beats with only one foot (°_°), uses what he calls the modern version of the heel up technique. Other great drummers use different techniques (heel toe, swivel, and so on). If you feel the heel toe technique works better for you, just go for it.

This is great plan. First time I've seen a layout like this. I've always struggled with control and bigger movements on my pedals. One thing that help was just move foot up and down at full flex. Do it over and over for me it helps build the connection I guess. For double guys do both feet get that flex. My opinion if your not loose and relaxed you are never going to be fast and have that endurance. This is something I wish I learned 15 years ago. Hahaha.

Gabe, watch this: Odyssey of Double Bass Drumming by George Kollias. He released something similar around 15 years ago on DVD, it went through a 16 week program where you're taught different patters and foot techniques to improve overall speed and accuracy. I did that course over 16 weeks and I can guarantee anyone who does it, their double kick speed will go up to 240BPM 16th notes if you add RGB light strips to the bottom of the pedals.

I bought my first kit(no music experience/playing atall) from a pawn shop!!! 6pc mapex studio blonde. A horrible and very very old pearl double kick petal. Wayyyyyy more than I needed, but the price was wayyy good. So I started on a double. Which in the long run really didn't help me. It created bad habits. So as I played on a drum pad, even pillows I worked my hands and realized hey I need to do this on the double as well. So I spent time only using my non-dominant foot and it worked beautifully

I barely keep my foot on the pedal , my toes are right at the bottom of the pedal and I'm able to rebound in quads with only two kicks by using just my toes , but I also experiment with sounds especially my sticks too I've got sticks that I've wrapped in electrical tape to muffle the sound of the stick too ,makes them heavier, not sure if it's the best sound but it also helps with not breaking , nylon sticks are cheap enough ...
