The clay pipe was a precision operation👍. When you said you were going to use that small plastic pipe for fish habitat I was like is this black stuff super dense and heavy? Nope, it floated like other plastics do. 🤣 Knowing you are a man with experiance and common sense, I'm going to blame that brain fart on the heat. Anyway you powered through to a working solution after a false start and now the little fishies have a happy hideaway. Looks like a fun place to play and cool off on these hot summer days.

Re future clay pipe fish habitat installs. Consider pulling an old x-mas tree into the pipe before rolling it in. For smaller diameter pipes "Charlie Brown" the tree before pulling it in. Or, use a natural "Charlie Brown" x-mas tree. If a non-Charlie Brown tree will be a fairly tight fit trim the branches along each side (2 sides, some people have difficulty finding sides on round things ) so there will be a reasonably clear travel corridor through the pipe. Depending on which end of the tree you pull through the pipe first you can test how well it worked before launching the pipe and re-do it if necessary. Good chance if you pull it through top end first that there will be way less trimming needed the second time to create passage paths. And, if you check i'm sure you can some other broken pipes in Dirt Perfects pile. Test them for cracks gently with a 16# sledge by tapping gently and listening for a "dead" ringing sound. No use his trying to install cracked tile. It will just break upon installation. And, once you have this down you can contract out to him to do fish habitat install's on his pond builds. Sometimes you will have to give some of those tiles a more substantial tap to verify if they have cracks to help him id those he can donate to you. Also, re all those tree branches you're burning. Tie them in bundles with old polypropelene after adding, as needed, old concrete blocks into the center of the bundle and put them into ponds.

We used to make fish condo’s like that, we would screw any scrap board to the bottom 2 rows that covered half the pipe opening and half fill them with concrete as an anchor. Also screwed then together with short screws in an angle so the points didnt come thru and wrapped screen wire around it so the tiny minnows had a safe haven between the pipes. Some we drilled a bunch of holes thru like drainage pipe for a play area (thats what i called it) fish has to have fun too lol

I used to hangout at this one pond growing up that was owned and built by a guy that did Seawalls. He had this dock that was two telephone buried horizontally into the bank then some vertical steel supports. The pond was actually built as a storage pond that was filled by pumping water from the nearby river. He then had a couple smaller temporary ponds that he could flood anytime to be used for hunting ducks and geese. Those smaller ponds also made for good mud bogging when empty.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Somehow I think we will be seeing those chopped up plastic pipes sometime in the future. 😂 I’m thinking the ratchet straps will fail eventually and we will see the pipes again. My thought was to use some long decking screws to attach them to each other. Drill oversized holes into the side of the pipes so you can sink screws from inside of pipe into a neighboring pipe. Probably fill a few with stone or cement for ballast. Great job with the clay tile, watching it disappear off camera and then hearing it crash into trees. Priceless!! The look on your face, even better. Great idea with the overflow. Sounds like it should work well. Love the other commenters idea to make it look like a large valve or faucet. Very nice raft for the family. Wishing you and your family the best.

Also good to paint the PVC just to make sure the UV from the sun doesn't make it deteriorate. UV can make PVC brittle, and would shatter if someone stood on it in the scenario you mentioned. 😉 Made me laugh out loud when you grabbed your head when the clay pipe rolled away, lol. Was impressed how far you got it into the middle of the pond. Anyway, had fun watching you mess with the rock and those black pipes. Really admire your can-do attitude.
