What do You use for the antenas?
@bee-kay752 жыл бұрын
On these ones I used simple rolled up paper, but since that I figured out that using toothpick is much better. Have a look at my "Making the Empire state building" video. I made one in that video.

Thanks, i'm gonna try to make every model from the website

how did u make the paper model sturdy ???
@bee-kay754 жыл бұрын
I`m just using 210 gramm/square metres (thick) paper instead of the normal 80g/m2. That makes them strong enough if you put them into a safe display, but obviously vulnerable if you are not careful. However my ones survived 3 moving houses, two of them was across Europe.

How long should one leave the ink on skyscraper prints to dry
@bee-kay754 жыл бұрын
What do you mean? Nowadays printers dry staright away, so as soon as it`s out of the printer you can start cutting.
@cloverfield9114 жыл бұрын
@@bee-kay75 Darker ink skyscrapers like Trump World Tower or the Hancock Centre smudge when you start folding the corners. Not a problem for lighter buildings Had no problems with Bank Of China or Trans America.
@bee-kay754 жыл бұрын
@@cloverfield911 Ah, ok. To be honest I`ve never really started making any building straight away, so never thought this could be an issue. In this case I`m sorry, but I can`t help you as I have no experience about this.

thanks for this! question at 3:50, it looks like you are cutting, but not actually cutting? I assume you are scoring the paper somehow for the folds? can you desribe your tool/technique? thank you again!
@ncnoman4 жыл бұрын
oh nvm, you showed that at 1:42... noticed when I watched it again :)
@bee-kay754 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yes, that`s only scoring (actually kind of cutting the very top surface of the paper very carefully not to cut through). With this technique it is very easy to fold straight lines, however due to cutting through the printed surface, after folding the paper a white line appears all the way dawn the folding. It is not visible on this model, because the corners are white anyway, but some very dark or even black skyscrapers look unrealistic, so I had to use some dark felt tip pens to "colour the paper back" to a dark shade. However since this video was made, I found a better way to do this... after some experiment, I use that method now. You can check that tool I use (which does not cut into the paper, just kind of squashes it in a very thin line) in one of my other video (making the Empire State Building). Link here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ep3bqq19jLiYmrs Please see the tool in that video at 1:57 ... I think that tool is used for some make up by ladies... not entirely sure what that made for originally.

My printer is able to print on thick papers not just on normal ones. You need to ask your library if they can print on photo paper.
