I bought this for my friend for his birthday as we just moved into a new house and he finally has room for a workshop. The bench was very easy to set up kzbin.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh They center support is a little difficult to snap in and out of place at first but at least then we know the bench is secure. It was a pleasant surprise when we saw it came with clamps. I apparently missed that in the description. My friend loves the versatility of the bench. Great starter bench for his workshop and easily transportable all over our property. I wish the bench was a little taller but the other features of the bench more than make up for that.

I am building a nine (9) guitar stand (6 electric and 3 acostic guitars) currently with a storage front opening box under the guitar stand that will be then mounted to locking castors. The box is 1185mm (46 5/8inches) wide, 425mm (16 3/4inches) deep and 184mm (7 1/4inches) (internal) high and I have a centre wall that divides the box into two equal parts. I have now come to the time to consider how I will build drawers that will store guitar accessories (pedals , cables etc). I set my self the goal of building the stand without screw, but I have used screws initially to construct and I have then later glued and replace the screws with dowels trimmed to the face. To say the least all the joints are rock solid. I also have a 120+ year old apothecary cabinet with solid timber drawers with similar drawer design to what you have presented except there is no facing plate. This cabinet still functions as a highly usable piece of office furniture to this day. What you have presented in your construction video of the drawers has very successfully addressed some of my nagging concerns. Little things like the non-tipping location of the back wall to the draw and the dimensions of the drawer as related to the drawer opening etc. I plan to take your construction time sequence in the construction but continue to use screws temporarily to help in initial construction but replace with 8mm (5/16inch) dowels after the butt joints are glue dried - this is time consuming but I like the look at the end. Thanks for the video and the confidence you have given me to finish the project in style.

Thanks for the video I couldn't have found it at a better time. I'm just finishing up the carcass of a shop cabinet and have been wondering how to make the drawers. They be wood sliding on wood no drawer slides. The butt joint at the front is a good idea because it's simple/easy and I think with glue and screws it will hold. I appreciate all the suggestions for clearances on width and length and the extending the sides past the back so the drawer is still supported when fully extended it something I wouldn't have thought to do.

My cabinet, first I ever did for my pup truck was quite comical compared to your build. At the time I didn't have a table saw and now will dismantle what I constructed, rip the wood so I use less wood keeping it lighter in weight. I enjoyed this very much. It’s interesting to me that you didn’t use a dado stack to cut the dados for the drawer backs. I suppose depending on the number of dados you need to cut, nibbling it out is more efficient than switching the blade over then back. Also, I believe I would have been inclined to use 1/2” ply for the bottoms, due to the drawers being rather large. Or I might have added a support strip on the bottom in the middle.

Great video, I've enjoyed all your videos. I have two tips I'd like to share. 1, the bottom sides I do a roundover (my idea) to reduce friction when sliding drawer in and out. 2, from woodsmith shop video, I use Desk Top Fasteners (they have a figure 8 shape), added to front, inside cabinet face frame.This will stop the drawer from getting pulled out. Jon, one of the things which table saws don't seem to be able to receive here in Germany, at least the so called "Job Site Saws" which most have in their hobby workshops, is the dado stack system. It seems popular in the states bit I see here that you don't use one. Why? All those draw dados could be done in one pass. I use a Bosch GTS 10 XC table saw which is really good for what I do. It's spindle however isn't long enough to accept a stack. Again, love your stuff man 👍
