This is a great channel! Models freighters is an interesting and unique subject. Is there something special you do to waterproof the cardstock portions of your ships? Also, what sort of waterproof paints do you use?

I just use CA glue to waterproof cardstock and to stiffen it. I also use common Testor's enamel on the hulls. Early on (mid-1980s) I was using an epoxy spray paint intended for appliances. That worked great, but they stopped making it in red, so I stopped using it.

I have a question: Have you ever created your own fictional Great Lakes Vessel in model form? Say, you found a certain laker ship design so inspiring that you decided to create your own original lake freighter. A freighter similar to the original freighter of inspiration, but it's a fictional freighter that never existed and you gave it its own original name. Have you ever done that? Just Curious.
