So, it is possible to slot the iron chests in the 1m cubbies as you do with the wooden chests. The trick is to place them top-down instead of bottom-up. Also, if you want to pull the chests more forward so they're not as deep with the slots, don't place the cross beams in yet, and place the chests as you're looking downward at about a 30 or 45 degree angle. You can place them further forward this way, it just takes a little guess work as to where the cross beam will sit once you build those in. I've done this many times, and even use the boards on the 2x2 flooring to align everything up, as I do 2x1 shelving instead of 1m slots. I did not know about the core wood adding a 0.5m snap point, which will help me out tons in the future.

Just so you (and others) know, you can still use the same 16 spaces for the reinforced chest that you do for the small wood chest you just have to put them in from the top to bottom instead of bottom to top as we almost all do. give it a try and let me know what you think. Other than that great looking storage video. Thanks for posting.

You can do the iron chests on 1 by aswell, you just have to start placing them from the top!

Huh, I've defo gota have another look because I tried that and couldn't get them to look good, however I have just today discovered a new way to make the Iron chest rack look FAR better too, so I'm probably going to upload a second small video soon correcting my mistakes, I'll take another look at this too!
