gregor clegane You know computers are not run on fuel...They're run on electrical currents and tensions...so... Bad comparison. Electric cars are good, bro, they're just too silent, but they're fast and very clean when it comes to pollution. Remember, you're the one who's breathing all that carbon monoxide coming from cars everyday. Not that they're the only source, but they're not the least polluting source either.

bran, the thing can overclock to 4+ ghz he's not gonna bottleneck it.
@TCWordz9 жыл бұрын
Phantom Some people have managed to get it to over 5 under water. But it's still a bad choice. Go for a nice k-skew i5 and you WILL see better performance. It would also be more futureproof (gasp!) as you likely won't have to change your CPU and motherboard when you want to upgrade the graphics card again. If you don't get a k-skew it's more "bang for the buck" friendly to grab a B 85 motherboard (even an H 81 one.. but they kinda really suck) Also get 2x 4 GB sticks of memory for double the bandwidth (increased performance in some cases)
@devilmunch9 жыл бұрын
Tommy59375 but if it's budget then a pentium is fine. i5 is better i'm not denying it but a pentium won't bottleneck a 970. 1080p 60fps e z.

the only problem is that biologically you cannot smell yourself because of a defenesive mechnism inside the brain allowing you to smell the surrondings and just forget the smell(s) of your own body ... when you can smell yourself that means there is a ton of bactria on your skin and you should wash yourself with alot of soap and water as haveing that much bactria on your own skin is not healthy mainly because it is the bad bactria that you can smell while the good bactria you cannot when it is yourself of course.

Arjan Stoop Unfortunately it wasn't the vibration, it was the click-click-clicking of it reading/writing data. At the time it was a 2.5" drive kind of ghetto mounted using foam to wedge a 2.5-3.5 sled into a floppy bay. I've since replaced the case and now it's mounted on an SSD mount behind the motherboard tray. Less audible but still there. Once I turned up the fans (which to me is a more tolerable noise) it masked it fairly well. I have had drives that did vibrate through the chassis though...and fans too...and they are annoying as hell.

I used to try and build my PCs silent. I used them primarily as workstations since I've found loud PCs can affect mood. In recent years I've given up on doing so. I made a hole in my office and the computer is off in a seperate room. My computer has 8 total fans and I still somewhat hear it through the wall, but with music playing, which is basically ALWAYS, I don't hear it anymore. You just have to be prepared to purchase many long wires and extensions to still run your displays/accessories.

When i was working at a local computer workshop here in Sweden i built a silent PC for a customer. I couldn't hear it at all even when i put my ear flat on the side door, even when all fans was at 100%. I did not have any equipment to measure audio levels at the time, but here are the specs. I used an NZXT H630 case (Without window) For the airflow i went with the standard 200mm fan at the front, an NZXT 1000 RPM air-flow optimized fan at the top drive cage and a 120mm radiator from Cooler Master in push-pull at the back with 2x NZXT 1000 RPM static pressure fans for a total of 4 fans. I really recommend that case if you want a premium silent computer.

@redchris058 жыл бұрын
He hoped so, but it's actually just swirling around inside the case.
@redchris058 жыл бұрын
***** actually, that would produce _less_ of a vortex, as it would quickly reach an optimal pressure at which the rate air was squeezed out of the rest of the case matched that being pulled into it. One thing I will mention is that the PSU being upside-down _may_ alleviate this. I forgot about that.
@Chaps_Jr8 жыл бұрын
This is a computer case optimized for silence, not airflow. There is no vortex inside the case significant enough to make any difference. The front and back fans will push air into each other, and any hotter air will rise to be exhausted through the top. It's basic thermodynamics, and not hard to understand. Plus, as long as there is any airflow at all inside the case, convection will take over and do most of the work anyway.

Linus seems personally invested in quiet computing, which is nice and comes through in stuff like this. Other channels will give lip service to noise levels but they don't seem to care as long as it can be measured at a "noise normalised" level which is significantly louder than what any quiet computing enthusiast would aim for anyway. Small details like Linus opting for a super sized air cooler over an AIO show he gets it

I'm a enthusiast to (semi)passive quiet builds and have a custom built optimized for that. I'm astounded as how few good semi-passive builds you can find over the internet. Lots of down points in this video.: 1) 100% passive heat-sinks without fans are completely pointless. There is no reason whatsoever not to have a fan in the cpu's HS and just keep it off for most of the time. And when you want extra performance, you can set it to only turn on at very high temperatures (+75c) to avoid your CPU from frying and still allowing a high overclock than a complete passive HS. Instead of removing the fan, adjusting the cpu's frequency in OS is the best flexible option to choose the optimum compromise between Noise and performance above 75c 2) 120mm fans are terrible options. That is the obvious reason why this build fails at LOAD mode. When going for a absolutely quiet build, the correct choice of fans size and models are crucial. The ideal CASE would have the biggest fan supports as possible, preferably with no 120mm fans whatsoever. If you have 140 200 and 120 mm fans, you would notice that the 140mm will be much more efficient pumping air than the 120mm. The 200mm will be particularly better for top exhaust at very low rpms (600~800). The case in this review does not support a rear 140mm exhaust fan, so that would be a instant cut-out for me. The 120mm fan selection is not the best either, Corsair's SP120 quiet edition is the best CFM vs Noise ratio fan in the market. 3) While 100% passive PSUs are neat, they are not a good choice cost-wise since they usually are ridiculously expensive. A supernova G2 which is semi-passive up to 300w would be the best balanced option. 4)This is a extremely overpriced build, btw, only few people could afford it. Quiet semipassive pcs DON´T NEED TO BE over ~750USD. Mine isn´t (if you don´t account for the SSDs). 5) The rear fan used as intake is another choice that I believe is not very good, as it blows air away from the top opening grill and reduces the natural convection of the massive HS. 6) Another criticism of this case is that it's top and front grill are considerably obstructed by pointless plastic aesthetic-parts. I don´t believe the compromise of sealing the CASE with plastic and rubber for absorving the sound of the fans is always the best as it cranks up heat inside and limits the thermal dispersion of the build, thus the maximum performance. Bigger low-rpm fans with large area grills is the best option IMO. 7)Related to the previous 2 itens: Semi-passive builds should have NEGATIVE pressure, not positive. 8) No undervolting on the CPU? Boooh No moderate overclock? Double Booh. 9) I haven´t seen emphasis on trying to find the sweetspot speed of the case fans, ramming them all way to the max as the CPU gets to 70c is not an intelligent choice. A high static pressure cooler on the HS, as stated on item one, would be a better option and finding the ideal max speed of the case fans is also essential. For my build, I found that having my 140mm fans at 700rpm and the 200m at 600 is the sweet spot, enough to reduce the Delta-V from ambient from 12 (complete passive, a average midtower, btw) to a mere 1.5. Increasing the fans speed to 1200 and 900 rpm (their maximum) bumped the noise a lot and didn´t reduce the Delta-V significantly more.

Also another detail I noticed, a low-noise resistor adapter is only a good option for fans that actually can start up at lower voltages (5 volt and bellows). However, if you don't go with this exact silent wing models, usually a pwm controlled fan will go lower speed (thus noise) than a voltage reduced fan.

Old video but still some good information here. I wasn't aware that Seasonic was making fanless power supplies in 2014. They have 700W ones now. BeQuiet is a great company. Their fans really helped quiet my computer, though I'll be switching them out for Noctua NF-A12x25 fans which proved to be 3dB quieter in tests. I was surprised that you took the fans out of your BeQuiet heatsink. Didn't think that was an option for an I7 processor. They've got standalone sinks for 90W processors and below but nothing for the 125W gaming processors of today. Noctua has been teasing a 3 Kilo one since 2019. A silent GPU is the holy grail. The Palit GTX 1050 Ti KalmX 4 GB graphics card is the only thing that comes close, and it's near impossible to get a hold of one. It can play all the 1080 pre-2018 games perfectly on max settings, but for 4K it's supposed to be rubbish.

Nice catch on the equipment there, Linus. Wonder how many takes were done to perfect them though, but nice there's a no-look catch with them.

Would the human ear be able to tell the difference between 23 and 27 dp's?? It's extremely marginal, I think you guys did a great job. Cool that you bought another tech company into your video to help them out too. Keep up the great work

Decibels aren't that easy. The amount of noise between 23 and 27 doesn't compare to the same gap elsewhere in the spectrum (118 and 121).

I'm pretty sure that they use Adobe Premiere and After Effects. The quality of production is pretty insane though. I'm so jelly of the editing that Edzel especially can do.

Redheadsrule13 Editors been using material design transitions that makes it smoother and easy on the eyes. I was impressed that they're using those transitions across all their videos now.

xAsmir Yeah, but the editing I'm talking about is the material design styled stuff that Edzel does. The cameras are batshit insane as well, but it's more the animation skill that I admire.

Redheadsrule13 Thanks! Graphics were done all in After Effects. I've considered C4D to actually have material design in 3d space as the concept is supposed to represent (paper over paper) but I'm not sure the workflow is quick enough for the deadlines.
