Thank you so much for these, I have severe anxiety about building the models "incorrectly" and being stuck with odd weapon counts. I'm doing late war Germans and USA since no one plays in my area, gotta provide both armies to get an opponent lol.... But after watching these I feel a lot more confident just building the boxes and playing, rather than second guessing what equipment they should have indefinitely. So again, thank you!

You can also go down the Perry miniatures route and get pretty much everything and here in these lists in one box without making any sacrifices. It's pretty nice if you like their aesthetic and they're also cheaper.

I hear you there. They didn't screw over my army but I got tired of the churn and the chase - buying new books every two years, seeing units get nerfed into uselessness or relegated to "legends" status, flavor of the month, and the overall cost of the game. I sold nearly all of my 40k stuff for several hundred dollars of store credit and I'm free to explore more affordable, sensible games now. It's refreshing.

Rather then having the officers waving the 1911 pistol, the officer is one I would give the m1 carbine. It outranges a pistol while weighting half what the rifle weighs

I like the M-3 better than almost any other SMG that I have shot and I have shot all 6 major types used during WWII. PPSh-41, MP-40, STEN Mk III, Beretta M-38, M-3 Grease, and M1A1 and with it's lower cyclic rate it is more able to put most of it's bullets on target at 50-100 yards over all the others. The PPSh was the worse with it's Braaaappp 900 rounds a minute out of a 71 round drum there might of been maybe 10 of those rounds any where on the actual target the rest was either above or below it on the paper it was on. The M-3 it always seemed to have 20-26 rounds out of a 30 round mag. on target at the same ranges. The MP-40 was about equal but only about 20 rounds. The STEN suffers from it's sights or at least the Mk-III that I shot you had to move it over about 3 inches to the right of the target at 100 yards in order for it's rounds to hit. The M-38 was typical Beretta with a commercial finish (this one was made in mid 1940) but the double triggers it has, sort of can throw you as you hit the front one thinking it's full auto but it is semi auto and the rear one thinking semi. And in the heat of combat it could be easy to do. The M1A1 was the heaviest and it would get tiresome slinging it around for any length of time over all the rest. This was all possible as my old job was working for a guy that was a class II weapons mfg. So he could build, buy, or trade for stuff like this for samples. Sadly he moved and so that took care of that job. Just figured people would like to know how all the SMG's stacked up against each other.

A detail on the intended implementation of the "Papasha", the late-ish war smg units were directed to only shoot single shots to hide their true nature and advance under artillery and mmg fire, shooting full auto on very close ranges, going for volume of fire and suppression rather than accuracy. you can find reliable sources online, i recomend starting here kzbin.info/www/bejne/oITMhaKels1_bc0 and then you can find english translated manuals for free with a little bit of searching, its not as easy as with the british and americans but its possible Remember that most nations in the rest of the world put less emphasis than the americans on marksmanship (obvious exclusion the BEF that was, in theory, good at everything). im not american so i wont pretend to understand the gun culture but i have experience serving in the military if that is a factor on putting any trust in my information, in any case, trust the sources and try to think with their logic and not with our superior hindsight and knowledge of today. cheers

Thanks for these videos. Very helpful in getting the most use of the miniatures. I would love to see you go through specific list building strategies/synergies of the factions when you get through this current series. I’m just starting out and I want to play with painted minis, so it’s tough coming up with my own list idea, only to find out it really stinks! So then I have to scramble to buy/build/paint more stuff than I originally thought

I actually got to meet John Russell at my LGS when they were premiering Korea. Didnt get to play but it looked interesting. I think if the helicopter rules were more robust id be more interested, but as it stands the game seems to lack a bit of personality to warrant an entire new collection.

If you're making reinforced platoons, you can have the NCO and 2 of his squad take submachine guns, and 1 guy take a BAR. I think most squads are optimized at 8. And, as usual, most HQ squads are just 2-man teams to get that small squad bonus.

A six man fire team is massive. I think that three smaller squads, with three to five man fire teams may be more true to history.

You’ll be getting an extra 12 Marines in the Semper Fi set due to it having 7 USMC sprues (regular marine box has 5). You have a lot of flexibility there but I personally would probably build 4 more SMGs and 8 Riflemen.

20:45 I have gone thru all the US Airborne theatre selectors & found no mention of 2 BARs in Airborne squad. All so I would add a figure to the Machine gun & use it as an MMG.

Rulebook says they can take 2, US Airborne Starter Army says they can have 1, Armies of the United states says they can't take them at all

Charles is correct. Paratroopers (US army book) cannot take BARs, though can take 1 LMG per squad. The 'Veteran Paratroopers' from Battle of the Bulge book (even though normal Para's are also veteran rank ) can take 1 BAR, though. And up to 2 LMGs. Warlord really need to have a run-through their books and army lists imo ^^;

Im trying to do this build on Easy Army for 101st Late War and it doesn’t let me have 2 BARs. Also where does it say paratroopers can even use a BAR? The Armies of the USA book doesn’t mention it for paratroopers

Honestly I would just run US Paras as Veteran Infantry.

The sheet from the boxed para set states your paras can have a BAR and up to 2 lmgs. As Hollywood Wargaming suggests, the only way to get your 2 BARs is running late war veteran infantry, so it is up to you if you want to run more historically or if your opponent is cool with you running vet infantry with para uniforms. My only gripe would be the stubborn rule applied to US para to that squad.

That was a bit of a fluke on my part. The person I play against runs his “paras” as vet infantry. IMO it’s better than going for the stubborn rule at just 5 puts.

I built my Waffen SS to have quite a few rifles was I wrong in that respect? I can totally understand building a large US squad with a lot of rifles with the advance + fire special movements however on a German soldier it just seems that a rifle is a waste ... or would I be wrong to take smaller German squads loaded with LMGs and Stg44s? Or is the rifleman the bread an butter of any force even if not as spectacularly as for the US?

I don't know if it's more efficient or effective, but with Waffen-SS I'd definitely include as many LMGs as possible (give a regular rifle to the loaders) and everyone else with StGs if possible.- the extra shots and Assault rifles seem worth the cost to me.

Veteran Paratroopers (rather than the Paratrooper squad, who also happen to be veterans... guh ^^; ) can only have one BAR. They can have two LMGs (Paratroopers can take one)
