You should mark cut ends with silver Sharpie. Spin arrows on squaring tool until all ink is gone, this is a mark you have square end.

Great video. I like the way you built everything. Don't forget to weigh out your field tips and confirm uniform weights. Use a file to grind down the screw end, just a tick. I was surprised how they were ALL different weights.
@travisglassman5 жыл бұрын
Daniel Herman i agree completely. Also, make sure to weigh arrows again when installing broadheads because those weights vary as well.

a small dab of fletching cement at the front and rear of each vane after fletching will insure that the vane does not want to start separating from the shaft through constant practice use.

Spin the arrow while the insert is bonding and spin the insert slightly if its wobbling. This reduces any wobble from the insert not being set in the right place

Maybe a dumb question but….. I shoot a 3 blade broadhead, should I be trying to align my blades with the arrow spine as well
@travisglassman2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t put too much effort into that. Focus on tuning your bow to bring the broadheads and field points together and you’ll be just fine.

I noticed on your arrow builds you don't spin test to cut out an wobbling ends before cutting ?

Garry Boye this is certainly a step one should add. Thanks for the comment.

Good job on the process and explanation. I shoot the same arrows but I bought them fletched from factory. You mentioned put your top vane to align with the spin align mark but victory has it aligned in between the two bottom vanes. What is your theory to which is more efficient and gets the best performance out of the arrow?
@travisglassman5 жыл бұрын
PT Adventures i personally have only done it my way and have had exceptional luck. I’d say either way will work because the idea is to create consistency and both ways will create that. Thanks for the comments.

What spine alignment tool are you using?

I use a homemade one built by a buddy who works in a machine shop. Works very well. Sorry, I know that doesn’t help you much.

Hey, curious about FOC on your VAP TKO arrow build with the upgraded insert. What weight broadhead do you use and what is your FOC? I am looking at building a 29.5" VAP TKO with the SHOK SS/AL 75 grain insert. I think my arrow will weigh in at about 349.5 grains without the broad head. Looking for a 19% FOC for elk hunting.
@travisglassman5 жыл бұрын
Idaho 2nd Gens my FOC is 13.8% with a heavy lighted nock(19 gr.). My arrow length is 29” from nock throat to end of carbon. I’m using a 50 gr. Insert and a 100 gr. Broadhead. This has been a proven effective setup as I had a complete pass through on a mature bull elk at 60 yards on a follow up shot after heart shooting the bull at 40 yards on the first shot. If you go with the 75 grain inserts, you will be in excellent shape. Probably around that 15+ % range. Good luck!

@@travisglassman Thanks a bunch! We cannot use lighted nocks here unfortunately so my nock will weigh 8 grains.

Nice work, I appreciate the attention to detail. Do you alignment your broadheads (3 or 4 blade) in any way?
@travisglassman4 жыл бұрын
Tom Bartman I usually try to align my Broadhead blades to my vanes when I’m shooting a fixed blade broadhead. However, I haven’t seen any results showing that it makes a big difference either way.

I have 350 arrow,cut to 29inches.should I use 125 grain or 100 grain field tip.also on broadhead.
@travisglassman3 жыл бұрын
Please refer to the arrow chart for your specific arrow. It should give you the option to pick your broadhead/field point weight and make sure you have the correct spine.

i wouldnt put heat directly on the insert. It could compromise the sturctural integrity of the carbon when you install or alter the Inserts integrity. just heat the glue.

What did you use to glue your pin nock adapter?

I don’t glue those. If it’s loose, use a small amount of thread tape.
