I am using a GC3 Sim in a box set up at home. I love it for practice and play. Tons of great data.

Glad I saw the screen overlay flicker at the end frame of this video, revealing that it's not that crisp of a projection, after all. Was starting to get jealous.

Hi, another great video. Have limited space inside an old barn. Purchased from Golf Bays , about three years ago , simbox enclosure, golf mat and SkyTrak ( due to limited space) . Use iPad to view shots etc. No computer or projector.

Did mine with a Skytrak, Dell tower, wide throw projector, 3mx3m enclosure and Augusta Hitting mat. Finished it off with some ‘fake grass’ from Bunnings and an old sound bar that I had lying around. Put it in the back 6m of my garage (next to the beer fridge) for all up 8k Oz dollars. Way cheaper than I thought and certainly if you have the space within the realms of the ‘committed average golfer’

Do you like your Skytrak? Would you recommend it?
@davepoulsen1007
@davepoulsen1007 Жыл бұрын
@@chuckgauthier2374 I have had mine for almost 3 years and have had no issues whatsoever. The distances are accurate and the ‘shot shape’ is accurate as well. The club path etc is somewhat a ‘best guess’ but if you want that absolute data you need to look at the way more expensive options. I also added TGC19 (that was included in the 8k) so enjoy the 150k plus courses that come with that. Overall I would see no reason to change to another system as it gives me what I need. Oh and I have gone from a 10 to a 3 index

@@davepoulsen1007 ah ive wondered about skytrak...been sorely tempted but also read some horror stories about constant misreads anywhere from every 1 in 10 to 20 shots, and also very inconsistent driver data. Im keen for photometric system (ive got a garmin r10 which is totally fine, infact for the price, really impressive) but other than skytrak the next best bet is gc3 which isnt even available in Australia and will most probably cost 15k by itself!!! way outside my budget lol
@davepoulsen1007
@davepoulsen1007 Жыл бұрын
@@tezzlacoilz I can only speak to my experience but I have had next to no read issues. Sure it will miss every now and then but I am talking a handful of shots in a 100. I have found that the level of the skytrak is the key - keep it level with the hitting surface and you have no issues. I use a rubber mat insert tee for my driver and just make sure the lazer is hitting the tee somewhere. For 8 iron to LW I place the lazer dot in front of the ball and for 7 iron and up pretty much put the ball on the dot. I will admit that it doesn’t pick up putts well but if your using it to practice putting your probably using it for the wrong thing. When playing TGC2019 I just use the auto putt function Oh and mine is in my garage with heaps of natural light and works equally well day and night

Did mine with a gc Quad, sim in a box set up off Foresight. Think realistically its at £30k, but I have club data etc. Probably OTT as I could of halved that price and probably still benefitted massively, but for sure its helped my game no end. I’ve been playing for 13 months now having never picked a club up and my game has come on rapidly, was 6 over through front nine the other day but 14 over at the back so bit of consistency missing 😂 But the sim and cameras has undoubtably brought me on much faster, and Im a ocd type person where I like to go balls deep into everything I do 😂

A major key to deciding on the right launch monitor is if you're left handed and play with others that are right handed. If you have a Quad or any other side positioned unit you have to move it every time the next player of opposite hand has a turn. Clearly a no go in practical terms. The Mevo+ is the best option for this as it is positioned behind you. Which does require more space as it must be approx 8ft or more behind. But it also does one critical thing the Garmin does not: it provides a video of every swing so you can review what's actually happening with your swing. This is essential for me as I don't just wanna stare at data all day I want to see my swing and match the good ones with the numbers and accelerate the speed you improve your swing.

You will need a good gaming PC and a good budget for software. Save yourself a huge amount if you choose GSPro where the courses are free and being added weekly as opposed to several hundred pounds per course with the launch monitor manufacturers. Screens are around £600 but Amazon photographic backdrop cloth is £30 and mine last at least 6 months. Biggest expense is the launch monitor. The Sim build can be done cheaply as a DIY project with backdrop cloth or black curtains and carpet to build the enclosure with adequate protection

Can't help wondering where golf is heading with all this technology crap, who really needs it. I've played many years and I know if I've hit it out of the heel, toe or centre of the club. I can see if it's gone straight, left or right wether it's high or low. I know my distances for each club and roughly what to factor in for wind etc. Grab a Sunday bag and a couple of clubs and get out and play, hit it find it and hit it again. Golf on the common, drink from the source and just enjoy it you do t need all this crap and expense.

I mean, if its within your means then why not? They're not mutually exclusive. Most golf players would absolutely love a golf sim if it were within their budget. It's not just for drills but just for a bit of fun.

first I was impressed by the quality of the projection... but finally you can see on the last frames of the video that it is just fake!!! haha..... there you can see a badly mounted textil for the projection... and for the video they the overlayed the area with an image of the game... for an bright projection like this in a nearly bright room you need 10K or more for a beamer with enough power... it looked to perfect... so its a bit sad that you don't show real situation/simulation...but its fine to understand the overall structure...
