Rich. Im so glad to see you living the dream. Having friends to help - just makes it all extra special. ❤ Funny, I was hoping to meet back with you again at Nall in the Fall last year and so sorry I missed you. Now I know why. LOL. Can’t wait to see what is coming next with the FIELD OF DREAMS! P.S. Can’t wait to attend a Fly-in at the new RCINFORMER FIELD. Take care buddy. 😉

Awesome. I have seen that stuff on many new cars. However, your goal was that nobody has to cut the grass? It seems the low grass works just the same .
@RCINFORMER
@RCINFORMER Жыл бұрын
Correct! However, we will have both grass & hard surface here. We don't want to do too much prep work or spend any $ pepping the ground for the runway right now until the building is built. The equipment needed to build the building will probably destroy any runway we make. So once the building is done, we will bring in equipment to flatten the ground and install a permanent hard surface with this material and a really well prepped grass runway. The hard surface will be 300', the grass will be 500'

@jimvalim1567 Great question! We are not sure if the glue joint would work on a large runway or hold up to time & the elements. We are also getting ready to pour cement for a building, and the trucks needed to build the building would have to drive over the runway area. Since we want to do some flying now, it made sense to build a smaller test runway to find out what works & what doesn't. We plan to roll this up later & use it as a perpendicular runway in the future:)

Hi, Rich. Ive been watching youre videos for years and its awesome that you have partnered with Wesley. I hevae been looking for something for our field because we are a grass field and big issues with EDFs, even with the grass cut short. I have been looking at different options and of of course looking at cost. I see you got lucky with having the materials donated. I have been looking on the Milliken website but am a little confused as to what it is listed under. Do you know exactly what Milliken calls it and also do do you have any idea or ballpark figure of the cost per foot or roll. Any help will be appreciated.

You can use sand to use as a top dressing for where the fabric is to be laid. The sand will fill in any low spots and can be smoothed easily. You can also use a heavy roller over the fabric to flatten some of the bumps from the grass underneath. Just putting fabric over grass will always results in an uneven surface. Using sand and rollers is how golf courses keep their putting greens so smooth.
@RCINFORMER
@RCINFORMER Жыл бұрын
Like in the video, I wanted to just put on grass & try it. When the grass dies, we will fold it over & rake/level underneath. This was to test the glue joints on a small version before we commit to a larger version of the runway:)
