Another version of DIY solar night lamp that uses TP4056 board as battery protection and just one external component SS9012 PNP transistor that acts as auto on/off switch for the LEDs. One of the basic and easy to build solar night lamp / mini street light
Using 3.5W/6V Solar Panel, 2pcs 18650 lithium batteries and 3pcs 1W LEDs
PS: in case that the light will not last overnight due to cloudy conditions in your area. Connect 1k ohms or 2.2k Ohms 1/4W resistor in series of pin 2 of 9012 transistor going to the input + of TP4056 board.

i have build this circuit and it works ...i have used 800mah li ion battery and 6v 100mah solar panel. and 1w led for mini garden light. transistor i have used is bc177b.

I have tried it and it works, the voltage source of the 5 volt mobile phone charger, I use the tip42c transistor because if using 9012 lights less light, I also use tp4056 without protection (cheap), load using 5 volt usb led light. I use for emergency lights if the power off automatically turns on and works. Thank you for inspiring me, may you succeed.

Hi, just wondering if you connect the tip42c the same way as how 9012 connected on this video? Thanks

@hendry28channel31 YES, I have wondered the same as you about the maximum current that the 9012 could drive, and you are right, using a more powerful transistor (e.g. TIP42c), will drive more current and the leds will shine with more brightness😂 Greetings from Argentina!😂

@@raiosis Yes, you are right, because the TIP42c is a PNP transistor as the 9012 is...BUT READ in the TIP42c datasheet the correct location of the emitter, base and the collector... Greetings from Argentina!😂

I would recommend a resistor between the IN+ and the base (pin 2) of the transistor. You can get away without one but it is not a good practice.

why we use 9012 transistor ? Can you explain the purpose of 9012 in this circuit?
@ALEFILES
@ALEFILES Жыл бұрын
The transistor act as a switch: when the sunlight illuminates the panel, the (+) polarity of the panel blocks the base pin of the transistor (because a PNP needs a NEGATIVE polarity in its base, to switch on), so the transistor doesn't drive current thru the collector, and is like a switch in the "off" position. On the other hand, when is night, the panel hasn't any possitive voltage, and the resistor polarizes to negative the base, and the transistor switches to ON, and can drive the current from batteries to the leds... I strongly suggest to change the 9012 for a TIP42c PNP transistor, because this one drives more current than 9012... Greetings from Argentina!!!😂 (the second country with MORE inflation in the world)

Am I reading the circuit right where the resistor will just make it turn on later so it requires even darker outside before it turns on?

Hi. Just wondering if i need to change any materials if using 2x6volts panel instead of one? I live in an area where daylight is shorter. Thanks
