This video shows how I built my 200 Watts LED panel.
It also explains a little bit about the light spectrum. The panel is built from
cheap LED stipes plywood and diffuse acrylic glas. The panel can be mounted on a tripod and
used as studio light.
Here are some links to the parts I have used. These affiliate links sopprt my channel at no extra cost.

200W heat distributed at a peace of plywood? DIY Perks did the same but he never mentioned how hot it became after some time or if the magic smoke appears. 200W don´t disappear to nowere. I would take 4 - 5 mm aluminium sheet to mount the LED or, as you mentioned, much less power.

It seems like the LED panel construction project is a rite of passage for youtubers! Well done. Yours is a good one.

Thanks for the video. Many of the other DIY LED Panels are pretty low power compared with yours. I think more power makes a panel more flexible to shooting video.

As a professional I would not recommend against putting LEDs on plywood, to hell with it, if it burns, it burns but it is terrible at heat dissipation. But low voltage solution should not be a problem to mount to aluminium plate...far better heat distribution which is crucial for LED lifetime and for the lumen output as well. If you heat up the LEDs the efficiency drops a lot.

Well explained and built! Why don't use I.e. a 555 timer acting as a PWM generator, driving a beefy MOSFET to drive the LEDs? You could adjust the brightness then with one potentiometer. easy and cheap.

You would need to make sure the PWM frequency doesn't cause flicker problems with all the cameras and shutter speeds when filming.

pileofstuff good point, you have to take this in consideration. Also the MOSFET has to be capable of switching the desired frequency.

actually it was the plan.. the time was too short to make it. I already started programming an arduino uno. using an encoder and a 7-seg display you could change the brightness and the base frequency for the shutter. The will be a follow up when I tested it long enough.. If you are eager you can built it now and share your solution with us :)

You should realy chose a high CRI LEDs for video light, not a generic ones. Plywood is nice to work with, but is is not a heat sink. Quite contrary. By measuring the temperature at the back of the plywood, you are actually measuring it's heat insulation, not a dissipation. No offence, but you did it all wrong with this one.

Are those specialized SMPS any cheaper than using just some ATX PC PS from the shelves ?

atx is also good.. Mains is even handled already and enclosed. but the passive ones are very expensive... but there are also silent options.

my camera is lumix gh5 amzn.to/2eWEk9B I can show the setup in my next vlog on the bitluni's trash channel. Not sure if it's final though. The next delivery from china video wich is already available for my Patrons and will come out next days for everyone was already filmed with the new setup. Using the new light I was able to improve from ISO 800 f4.0 to ISO400 (native) f14. That's a huge difference. The closed aperture make the depth of filed less shallow and I don't get problems with the sharpness anymore.

3:47 that's wrong. Only 8 countries in Europe use these "Schuko" sockets, which allow a plug to be inserted either way.
