Bro I am 39 and trying and pretty dedicated to learn a proper Manuel, Hop, Hop Bar, 180 and fakie. I work from home and watch ALOT of tutorial video and I promise your videos are the best for beginners. You focus on mastering the build up to the trick and the troubleshooting which is everything when trying to learn this crap. Please keep going and looking forward to a full Manual and 180 video in the future.

One teacher to another: your presentation is as good as it gets. These kinds of vids take more effort than most people know, it's understandable that you posted two then stopped. At 54, coming back to the sport after 38 years, I've learned to take my time, be patient, and build new skills (or rebuild old ones) incrementally, methodically, precisely, everything grounded in the fundamentals of technique. Piano, recording engineering, composing, photography, and now bmx... videos like this are deeply appreciated, and KZbin is poorer for your absence as a teacher in this space. Wishing you all the best, wherever you are 🙏🏼

Just wanted to say this video is without question the best I’ve seen for progressing your bunny hop as every other tutorial teaches you to go straight for the largest with no build up. Now after practicing the looping out I’m way more confident and now able to commit to the better technique. Thank you and I hope this video blows up as it deserves to do so.
@SlowGrindBMX Жыл бұрын
That’s awesome to read. I’m glad this helped you out!

Sorry to ask more of you as this tutorial is so in depth, but I’m currently working on getting the hop higher. You say that you push of the bars harder to achieve this (which I’ve done) but my front wheel still doesn’t come up us much. After watching you bunny hop for ages I notice you pull your bars in with straight arms and then push out which you mentioned. So am I correct in saying that you do a yank into your hips and then a push out? Or does it just look that way and you are in fact just jumping with straight arms and pushing? Not really sure if this is the best wording😂 No worries if you don’t answer I still really appreciate this video!
@SlowGrindBMX Жыл бұрын
@@PublicShenanigansall good! When you start getting them higher, the steps are all the same, you just go through the motions faster and with more power. Your arms should stay completely straight until your back wheel starts to leave the ground. If I had to guess, you might be trying to bend your arms to get your front up. Focus on keeping your weight back and arms straight until you extend your legs fully. Hopefully that helps!
@PublicShenanigans Жыл бұрын
@@SlowGrindBMXHey I’ll be honest I was getting quite frustrated as I was convinced I was not pulling the wheel up with my arms as they were straight. So I started again from the very first steps and turns out I just had to wait a fraction of a second longer as I leant back before straightening my legs and now my front wheel is coming up higher and the handle bars are naturally coming closer as I jump. It’s funny, I felt like there wasn’t much progression other than the timing feeling a lot smoother and easier until I watched back my recordings and that’s when I noticed the front wheel and handle bars. The reason I’m writing this is also just to urge anyone trying this DO NOT SKIP OR RUSH ANY OF THE STEPS. I thought I wasn’t but I did and because my foundation wasn’t completely correct I couldn’t progress. Thanks again I really appreciate all your help and I can’t wait for more tutorials!
@garrenjb2 ай бұрын
Really appreciate the step-by-step approach and how you edited so many constant shots of you performing each step. A lot of other tutorials explain, then demonstrate only once or twice, leaving you to have to constantly back up to study the form.

I,m 50 years old & back in the old school days like from 1987 up to 1991 is when I rode , now in my 50s I,m back to riding again . Back in 1991 I had to quit riding because I had to have a surgery that took away the ability to flex both ankles fusing them together , I lost the ability to bunny hop completely , I,m not in any pain but I just don’t have the flex I need in my feet to do a bunny hop so now all I don’t is flatland & every time I see a jump , my heart gets heavy just because I know I can’t do that anymore , I’ve kinda came to grips with it but my mind misses those days .

Great tutorial. I was looking for a tutorial focusing on the appropriate technique and found this one. It seems that my mistake is that I start to stretch my legs at the same time that I start to lift the front of the bike and that way I don't get much height. I will try to apply this technique in the coming days. Thank you very much.

good vid don’t think your bars naturally come to your waist you have to think of what u r doin in order to do it, bringing the bars towards my waist vs pulling up def don’t think I do the bent legs jump after front in air. i only recently started thinking of the tuck & trying to make it happen immediately after my bars hit my thigh sometimes I clear the same object with little effort & others it’s the back end hitting it the idea of hoping onto a picnic table sounds like a disaster

with a street bmx it's very easy to execute...with a 26" DJ, it requires strength and maybe some bmx jump experience...with a 27" / 29" MTB hardtail, it's quite difficult to do but doable, those who use full suspension MTBs, they usually cheat, lols...with a roadbike, or cyclocross or a fixie w/ drop bars - my my my you're in for a hard time! :)
