now im a bit confused 🤔 tokonole for chrome tan? i really thought we can only burnish vegged tanned leather...
@hughanderson72857 ай бұрын
That looks like veg tan.
@gabagook6 ай бұрын
It can be done on chrome tan, but it is more difficult and requires burnishing gum.

You cannot burnish chrome tanned leather. It doesn't work with tokonole either. You can sand and paint, but burnishing doesn't work. Stop misleading people.
@gabagook6 ай бұрын
They can be burnished, just not as readily as veg tan

i think my chrome tanned leather is too supple to use beveler on it .. what to do ?? the sharp edges are too bad .. thanks for the video man
@shatterproofleather71204 жыл бұрын
it can be because it is cheap chrome tan leather I have had that happen to me. what size beveler do you have?
@marwanzidane57224 жыл бұрын
@@shatterproofleather7120 no. 2 cheap beveler but i have sharpen it with that blue stone
@HeyJoe893 жыл бұрын
I read, that some people avoid edge beveling on chrome tanned leather because of that. I´m about to buy one and gum tragecanth, but facing the same problem like you and so I´ll try how it works with the tiniest possible bevel first:/

@HeyJoe893 жыл бұрын
I think you have to spend 2times the price to get vegetable tanned leather shoes and shure the manufacturer will explicit tell you about that fact, because the leather is twice the price too.

What tool are you using to apply your glue? :o
@shatterproofleather71204 жыл бұрын
it is a silicon applicator! you can get them from amazon pretty cheap but I used foam brushes for the longest time. they just don't last as long.
@faunabun4 жыл бұрын
@@shatterproofleather7120 oh okay awesome, thanks!! Yeah I'd much rather have something I can easily wash and reuse.
@shatterproofleather71204 жыл бұрын
@@faunabun I will say with the silicon if you are using contact cement its easier if you let it dry then peel it off.
@faunabun4 жыл бұрын
@@shatterproofleather7120 oh alright, huh. Does it just go on a bit too thick with the silicone, so you're peeling off the top layer? I'm very very new to this.

So...no basic difference from burnishing veg tan. I did not know about using denim. I’ll have to try that. Thanks.
@bassackwards84223 жыл бұрын
There is absolutely a difference. Chrome tan requires very specific finishing. If you tried all the same as veg tan, you'd have terrible results. You can burnish veg tan with water or gum trag. You can't with chrome tan. It won't slick up. Tokonole is the only thing that seems to work and it still won't be as finished as veg tan.

Thank you so much for those useful tips. I’m wondering what glue you were using on chrome tanned leather edges? Will E6000 do the job?

hi! I use a water based contact cement. but e6000 should work just be careful to not get it on the face of the leather!
