How To Butterfly Or Fillet A Perch

We went fishing at Lake Erie for couple of days and got nice perch to fillet for fish fry. On this video, I'll give you a quick tutorial of how to butterfly or fillet a perch.

Nice to see a perch done right it’s well worth the time to scale rather than skin them . Over 70 years ago my mother worked in a fish house and this is exactly how she did it and taught us kids. Ps I like your work bench.👍🏻😊

About 6 slices and you got a fillet, seven and it's skinless, same for about all panfish. I use an 8" White Stag fillet knife that is very thin and flexible and scalpel sharp.

You are referring to the 'Y Bones' you'll find in fish like Walleye. There are no Y Bones in Perch. Good luck Perch fishing! 😃
