I’m army national guard and full time student, I thought getting a small personal loan would help me build credit and finance an r3 which I plan to daily. I’ve looked at some auto loan estimates but once I mention a motorcycle even if it is just a commuter bike is turned down. Any thoughts?

Personal loan could help with credit, but I would definitely look at paying cash if you can. Also, you should definitely be able to finance a motorcycle, I did when I bought my Harley back in 2010

So should I finance a car, and put like 5k down? Or should I just buy a 5k dollar car?

I would lean toward a $5k car. My first 3-4 vehicles were all less than $3k. To date, I've never paid more than $12k for a car, and I've owned several fairly nice ones...to include an S2000, and TWO VW Turbo Diesels :)
