In the UK with all the insurance issues and resale difficulties it’s easier just to spend a few extra quid and buy a decent example of what you want.

its sometimes cheap to buy cars from salvage but on the other hand it gets expensive once you have bought one you have to think about storage and the cost of getting your garage to fix it up an old family friend used to do that he introduced me to the salvage game in away

Eneconomical to repair means the leabour price is to high, so these cars can end up in Eastern Europe and Middle East, so people with low salary can fix it and sell it as a previous owner was a non-smoking doctor.

I have recently purchased another car because my old one was written off, these cars are okay if repaired to a high standard but insurance companies can be iffy and resale is near impossible, no traders will accept them as a part ex. I did a lot of checks on cars and found more than I should that were cat s/ n, even one with outstanding finance, none of the sellers highlighted this in their listings. Be careful out there people.

Seems to be a lot of not quite correct info in your comments Do you have any idea how many damage vehicles are sold repaired and sold everyday so resale is far from impossible. A fair few traders will accept them as px and buy them outright. Trade seller have to list they are such but private sellers can get away without as they can just claim they didn't know hence best to HPI BUT remember HPI can be out of date some may show finance which may have been cleared plus some may get registered cat n /s etc later so not 100%. PLUS people don't also realise a vehicle can be HPI clear and still have been in a serious crash REASON cause if repaired by Insurance it won't have a marker against it OR if it never went through insurance or a company self insure etc then when repaired it will still have a clean title so there are lots of people out there who don't know what state their car was previous to them buying it and would be shocked no doubt. Going back to Finance, a vehicle can still be ok with finance as often the owner or company will pay the finance off as and when the car is bought or you can even arrange to pay the outstanding finance to the finance company and any remaining to the seller. Feel I'm in a good position to comment as I sell thousands of non recorded commercial vehicles which are later repaired and put back on the road and I also repair some cars which are cat N or S and come from Copart or Synetiq I feel the best option is to be open with the buyer and show them before repair pictures and most have no issue. Sold two repaired cars in the last week and both were sold to the first people who viewed, yes I do price to reflect their previous history. Sorry long reply to your post but felt people should know the full correct story a bit like Becky Evans @beckyevans is trying also to do with her vlog

@@railsidecdbautos506 😂 My point was that as I myself have been searching for another car, I have found more than a few traders wrongly listing their cars, not declaring cat or finance. There are many that do list the cars correctly, but watch out for the ones that don't.

@@Wiganpilot Yeah that's fair enough although they don't need to declare the finance if they are clearing it on or at point of sale really. (although I do put a comment about it in my listings) My point really with your comment was the nearly impossible to sell and that no dealers/traders will buy them etc as it makes people think if they repair or buy a repaired car they will never be able to sell it.

@@Wiganpilot bit of a myth that when you take into account the amount just Copart alone sell every week and most end up repaired and back on the road, yes some go overseas but huge amounts stay here, If they were that hard to sell and the numbers who wouldn't touch then were high people wouldn't buy and repair them. common sense says yeah cat S will stop and make some think but cat N I think if put off by that its just a uneducated few that don't understand it .... Well that's my view and experience anyway lol

These insurance write offs are the reason why so many cars are stripped in the street, or stolen and stripped as parts are very expensive. Criminals make a lot of money selling these write offs, often selling the cars on before HPI has been updated, or by swapping the VIN.

I quite often surprised by the impact on some vehicles and air bags fail to deploy but must say I'm not the surprised on the Audi as the damage is quite light and angle of impact makes a lot of difference on if they go off ALSO you have to remember some vehicles are hit while parked and turned off so in most cases then they wouldn't go off.

I had a crash few weeks ago, head on with a 7.5ton truck. They have put the car as cat B and written it off. They are not offering me enough for it tho, quite annoying it was in mint condition alot of the interior and rear will be sold 🙄

you can argue the payment with them and normally get them to up their offer and if you still believe they are not offering you them the market value like for like send them in copies or links to live listings to prove your point BUT remember what you paid has no bearing on payout as some people pay way to much for their car and others get given theirs hence they go on market value/cap values. you may well know this but just incase you didn't or others don't.
