Hi David! From your experience, what are some of the best data tools that you use when evaluating a business? Perhaps databases that give great insight into the financials for specific small business industries. Good comparable financial info is really tough to find when evaluating a small business (e.g. what the average gross margin for a pizza shop is). Any insight would be super helpful!

I use several past transaction databases as well as benchmarking figures from outfits like RMA. Also, Canadian corporate tax filing info is publicly available online and is pretty much the same as US business. Some of the ones I use are subscription based.
