The thing I love the most about this channel is that Audrey never, and I say NEVER, pressures us to fill up our wardrobes immediately and instead encourages us to look things up first, be critical, and assess if we truly gravitate to certain things. Almost every influencer this time urge us to make purchases here and there every now and then. Most of the time, it makes us forget to find our own aesthetic and just fit in the boxes they made. I'm a young dude and this mature lady is my favorite content creator 🥺💯✨

Same!! I find the male side of style youtube is very lacking in this type of content. I’m not a fan of the yelling at the camera, strict rules, the constant ads and the fundamental attitude of guilting the audience and the intention of dressing better just being about attracting women. I want to learn how to dress well - for me, find my own style and how to care for my things. I like Audrey as she is calm, well informed and well spoken. She never says “you must, you cant, never do this, and you HAVE to”, she always goes in the “you could, consider trying, perhaps this & i like to” direction. The first is so aggressive and restrictive, and the last is more approachable and flexible. It doesn’t feel like shes trying to sell me something, and i love that she encourages slow fashion and intentional closet pieces.

A very informative post, Audrey. Great that you featured Crockett and Jones who really do make classic shoes and boots using top quality materials and traditional methods. I come from a Northamptonshire (England) shoe making family and am related to the Jones family. Two points I would like to add to maintain the longevity of your boots are to insert shoes trees after wear and to polish regularly. Wearing classic classy shoes/boots always always makes me feel chic, no matter how casual the outfit. You are spot on!

Just some extra info here :). You can actually repair a glued sole by sanding it off and glueing another one on top of the old sole. Also the term full grain leather can be abussed a bit as its not a protected term. If you really wanna know if its a good leather you can look for a well known tannery or the thickness and finish of the leather. :)

We all walk differently so someone may have a step that rolls in or rolls out that will affect one’s spine . All one has to do is look at the heel and one can see where it starts wearing down.

The ones I wear are from Orban's, a french brand with a fabric in spain, probably the cheapest Goodyear welting on the market at the moment, maybe due to the genuine leather (it's still good but not great), and the fact that the shop is tiny and looks more like a storage room (wich is actually cool especially when you're poor, shy and just starting in the style/sartorial path, plus they are so nice and down to earth). I asked my cobbler to put rubber soles and metal toe taps and I'm sure that with good care they are going to last very long now ! 😊

May i make a suggestion? A great place to search for leather ankle boots are at a tack shop. The sole is sturdy, they are leather but you can find faux leather. Most are lace up. You can find pull ons, and ones that zip up the front. I didnt care for the zips. Caused problems for me when I was riding. When I had my foot in the stirrup with heels down it caused the zip to slip. We call them paddock boots. They are comfy and hard wearing. Good luck!

I've learned so much watching this video. You're absolutely amazing, Audrey. I'll start saving up for a really good pair of boots to get at the end of this winter. I'm going to follow all your tips. I have so much admiration for you. Please don't think that the time you put into editing and making your videos is unnoticed. You inspire me to create more content for my own channel 💖

Excellent guide, Audrey! Love to learn some boot lingo and the name of some styles I didn't know. The tips regarding the different types of leather and durability were particularly useful as I'm looking to add boots to my wardrobe!

Excellent content. So well researched and presented. A question please. Of the suggested boots, I don't see any side zippers, only pull on boots. Is there a reason for this? I like the ease of a zipper. Any links for zippered boots? Thanks as always for your grace and style

How about if stores had a digital measuring system for feet, like the box some use when selling running shoes? One that took all foot measurents, and used ultrasound to measure hard and soft parts, and with all weight on each foot? Then all shoes and boots in all models and sizes were in a nice big data base of measurements and "give" and you got a recommendation, "this shoe is most likely to fit you well, and these three come next." Some very good sales people have a talent for this, but it is rare.

All i live is in Docs, Cowboys and platforms boots most thrifted and vintage yet look so damn good in their condition. I have a hard time wearing any other type of shoe. Leather is the way to go for forever boots.🙂🙂🙂

I would love a video on how to find a good pair of Espadrilles. I'm tired of buying Tom's that wear out within 6-9 months. Not sure if truly durable Espadrilles exist, but if you know about any I'd love to hear it!

I second this, so hard to maintain them 🙂

A great video full of useful advice. I’d add a suggestion: wear the type of socks you plan to wear with them when trying on a pair before you buy.

Thanks for the overview! I would also appreciate your thoughts on specific brands that make quality boots. It can be so hard to find quality shoes; most are cheap.

I’ve been eyeing the Thursday Boot co Chelsea boots 👀🧡
@Ssigerhej3 жыл бұрын
If you’re looking for a resoleable boot the Thursday Chelsea’s are unfortunately cemented. Meermin has a beautiful Goodyear welted Chelsea for 230 usd, which is a great price for a Goodyear welted boot. A company called John Doe Shoes also does Goodyear welted women’s Chelsea’s which come out to 156-181 usd depending on the leather you choose.

This was so helpful! I have a pair of brown faux leather lace ups with about an inch heel and a chunky tread and I love them a lot, but there’s a bit of a gap in the heel, and I wasn’t sure if that was okay or not. Now I know it is! Thanks Audrey!
