This video is a great starting guide for boots for women bc I had no idea about Goodyear welts or replacing boots. I thought some boots were really expensive for no reason, but I still like wearing boots from my time in the military. And I really like the idea of saving money by being able to just replace the welt overtime.

Great video. I've had good luck this past year getting my wife into Red wings. Of note they do have a more comfort based insole than your typical mens heritage boots. I've actually found excellent deals on hers as they likely don't sell as well as the mens and were all 1sts. She has Iron rangers, Clara, Harriet (older with leather sole) and the sweet Indigo blue legacy Moc toes. She's holding out for some Gracies next. :) Hopefully Truman may reconsider in the future as those look really fantastic.

Office of Angela Scott has lovely options and amazing sales (sample sales, too)! Just be mindful your not choosing the “polished leather” which is cheap bookbinder leather with an acrylic coating so the uppers won’t last as long as the welt most likely.

A few extra brands for consideration. Grenson, Tricker's, Cheaney's and Church's. British brands, all bar Grenson are exclusively UK made, while Grenson offer both UK made & made in India (with UK quality control) ranges. Pricewise, while none of these are cheap, for the quality you get, they aren't overpriced (with the possible exception of the Prada-owned Church's).

Can’t comment on the women’s boots, but if the Frye boots are made anywhere near the quality of the 12r engineer, they are worth the full price and more. I’ve been wearing those nearly every day for a decade, through 2 resoles, and they will outlast me. Been trying to get my wife into some too, maybe this will convince her!

Originally they said it was because "This is due to nothing other than some equipment changes on the floor that don’t allow us to easily switch from men’s to women’s lasts. They have been well received and my own personal opinion is that they are one of the best options for women’s Goodyear footwear on the market. We’re hoping some time this year to relaunch them once we have time to do an entire week or two of production with them. " Then I followed up again a few months later and said there were "no plans at the moment" to bring them back.

I bought a womens Thursday Combat boot "I'm a man" because they don't make that style for men! They're very comfortable but I noticed that the finish on the boot is really light! The whole finish is cracking everywhere and the leather is much thinner! I don't think it'll last as long as a Dr Martens

@@Stridewise I'm talking about the goodyear welt. I don't think they gave it an honest enough chance. Fast fashion makes more money for them. I have an unusual foot size and extremely muscular calves. Women are apparently supposed to have small calves and feet that are more narrow than mine. For me to get the right width I tend to have to buy at least 2 sizes up and that only works for short boots. I have a deep instep, so some boots will never work for me, and my foot length is if size 10. So, finding a 12 in women's shoes is difficult. I've gone shoe shopping with help from associates and found sometimes one or two pair of shoes in a store to choose from. My feet aren't swollen either. Big feet just run in my family.

I had the same concern. Honestly sometimes I feel like they do make my already-somewhat-large feet look longer, but I find that to be less true with tall boots. The height balances out the length maybe?
